further improvements: extension of service 103 to punggol. now punggol residents got bus that goes to jln kayu and even to serangoon rd. 156 extend. fully...

ya...gd news for punggol residents....but i can't help but think that the roads need to be widened if the traffic is to be smooth. right now, seems abit bad esp at the only flyover between sengkang and punggol. the other near edgedale plains is still under construction. i suggest the authorities look into more exits and entry to punggol/sengkang. make punggol seems like and isolated "island town" with limited exits/entry. Idea

Yes, with this announcement I am expecting Sv. 82 to be cut back to the interchange, with a new feeder service to serve Punggol Rd End, as Sv. 82 normally only gets passengers after Edgefield Plains.

Yes. It is possible. This could also mean that more new buses will be joining the fleet soon.

LTA is currently building 2 additional flyovers over the TPE. One links Sengkang East Rd and Punggol Way, the other one is a bridge linking Sengkang East Drive and Punggol East but with no access to and from the TPE.

Yes, it’s the mini-terminal mentioned above. I have a suspicion Sv. 82 will be cut to terminate there, and a new feeder service implemented, like what I said above. The feeder service will utilize only one bus(obviously the distance from Punggol MRT to Punggol Rd End isn’t that long, and headways can be made longer).

i think beofre the int opens i will shoot a few suggestions to SBSt regarding...

Service 103 extend to punggol (svc 103 present route intact)

Service 17 extend to punggol (svc 17 present route is intatc)

Service 163 to merge with 83.

Service 153 to extends to punggol and also route stay intact. 153 will call at SK central also

Service 373 is the punggol shuttle to punggol point as mentiones by darryl in many posts / Service 82 to end at this int

so that the punggol int will look like this:

Ok, from this friday, 20 June 2003, both services 83 and 136 will make a loop outside Punggol MRT station. The “proposed” terminal beside/near the station is not ready yet, right?

I mentioned in another post that the feeder service to Punggol point is not needed, as the LRT will serve 17th, 24th Ave and near Punggol point next year.

The feeder service will be needed temporarily as there will be a timeframe before the Punggol LRT line is opened. Punggol Point area is not heavily populated, a bus will do fine before LRT opens.

indeed this so called service 373 by me will be needed. i will bet that the punggol LRT will be delayed like the NEL. (SBSt sux?)

Other updates:

The Punggol LRT East loop may starts operation next year, while the West loop will operate at a later date, as the loop is currently surronded by vacant lands. Also, the branch line to the North-East of Punggol will be built later.

A Punggol - Woodlands MRT line may be built in 4 years time and if becomes a reality, will starts operation as early as 2012.

I see no point for a Punggol - Woodlands line, Sv. 161 and Sv. 965 already cover that route perfectly fine, however the nearest point is still Sengkang and passengers would have to transfer to a bus to get there.

The Punggol LRT West Loop will start later, as I predicted, and like what I said earlier, Sv. 82 will be cut to the currently under-construction Punggol temporary bus terminal when it opens and a new feeder service, possibly 373 be implemented to operate to Punggol Pt.

Well Darryl, you are wrong here. As the govt announced, railway transportation will be the backbone of the public transport in Singapore. If the line become reality, svcs 161 and 965, possibly svc 168 will be affected. That's why I say the MRT is snatching business from buses.

Wait a minute!!! Are u trying to 'forfeit' Jln Kayu Bus Terminal? If that's the case, that's pretty bad as some of the NS-men use this svc to get in and out of the camp.
