Hmm, looking through this situation, I feel that SBS does not really thought of it. The best way to solve this problem is to give them a feedback.
I am sure that the feeder service that used to go to Simei is 290 right? Right now, Svc 38 is overtaking Svc 290. This is quite 'bad' actually.

Nope , bus 38 takes over the routes of 290 and 220 , the reason for this ? because SBS can make more $$ . Passengers has to pay full fare instead of feeder service fare , you think about it .

Sometimes the way bus companies make amendments to services are to make free resources (i.e. buses) and make sure their profit margins won't fall. Furthermore, they would consider "alternative" services for passengers in the affect route, like walking to take other services.

Oh yes. I have forgotten that Svc 38 covers part of route 220. The reason you have given sounds logical.

i would like to see buses coming every 5 - 8 mins.. some buses that I'm taking comes in 15 mins interval. Confused
and maybe, buses should install toilets in them as some trips are long and could take up to an hour..

Although this is a good idea, it will make the bus stinky . Confused Also, they must do lots of cleaning on the bus. A better choice would be having toilets near the bus stops. However, Singapore has hundreds or thousands of bus stops. therefore, I think it's impossible to have toilets built at every bus stops .

no no SBS did this so as to get back some buses namely scania 113s) to use in other service improvements.

Service 290 has high load factor. SBS 999 U articulated bus was deployed on it until it was merged to become 38.

SBS can sometimes amaze me...

I complained of cockroaches in a bus and it was actually cleaned up.. hey were courteous, nice and responded (albeit very slowly.. more than 10 days) however, after a month, the roaches were back in force!

The main grouse is that they build buses for hobbits!

I got a bad back.. after a long trip, with knees crammed against the back of the seat in front, I need a chiropractor to straighten my back!

I used to have back aches especially sitting on TIBS mercedes buses , the first batch . Those are a nightmare to me , but they clean their buses and that is a big thumbs up to TIBS .

TIBS is generally faster in replying and taking action. I complained of cockroaches in a bus and the bus was gone next day. It came back nice and clean with some fragrance. The only email that took longest to reply from TIBS took around 1 month. But this probability is slow. I guess TIBS was busy then

cleaner and better environment.
better still if can put radio in the bus.... although we already have tv mobile.. but then it gives prob now and then, like the images and volume... constantly irritating me... rather listen to receiver.... Wink but then again if got radio, make sure that its audible..

I've taken a Tibs service NR2. The radio was on and tuning to Class 95. The rego was "TIB 495" if I did not remember wrongly. However, reception was kind of bad. I think the contract of trial with MediaCorp Radio has since expired and the radio on the buses are not being used anymore. This applies to some CSS buses with Power 98FM ad.

Note: "Rego" here means "registration plate number".

Be like HK!! More double deckers at higher frequency! SBS ought to look at how Tibs maintain its buses.. SBS drivers shld be more friendly, esp. those on 170.

Oliver, the Sv. 170 drivers are already as frustrated as they are, they have to drive that route about 2-3 times each shift!

Like what Darryl says, driving service 170 is exceptionally stressful compared to other normal services. Imagine getting stuck in the causeway jam while the bus captain is desperately trying to catch up with the schedule.
