MooKu SG oh no. then those stray cats how? i have a dog [female] too but it's very mild-tempered... almost no-temper.. will it be safe to let the kitten interact with it? and then.. how often should i bathe the kitten?
narz SG get a scratching pole and/or mat for it to start getting used to scratching those INSTEAD of the furniture. get ready to be on constant monitoring of the kitten as it grows up as it can get really mischievious. use "squirt bottles" as disciplinary tools to deter it from doing something that you do not want it to, like scratching furniture or jumping on the kitchen table top. remember, BEFORE it does something wrong, distract it with a loud noise or clap. no point scolding or punishing your pet AFTER it has done something wrong. with proper discipline and care (praise it when it is on good behaviour etc), cats can maintain themselves very well (less hassle than dogs actually) and are ideal as house pets. hope you do not end up declawing or sending it to SPCA. Good Luck!
narz SG no prob abt cats & dogs staying together.... they'll get used to each other after some time.. ps: my stray cat's got a jack rusell as a playmate. how often? for cats, it depends, if possible once a week....but they're ok even if you bath them only a few times a month (if they're strictly INDOORS cats).
MooKu SG nooooo i won't declaw the cat.. it must feel terrible not being able to scratch itself or climb around. what's a squirt bottle?
aHGer^83 SG 1 week 1 time... try to pacify ur dog lor...like...let them play togather...let ur dog to take care of the kitten...
MooKu SG will the dog like, get angry suddenly and decide to bite or scratch the cat or vice versa? what should i do if this happens?
MooKu SG oh okay. i think i'll read up more first before making u all answer soo many questions.. thank you very much~~ /me trots off to bathe the kitten
MooKu SG I tried to bathe the kitten just now.. but it wasn't successful at all! First, I put it into the bath tub which was dry. At first the kitten was okay, but after a while it started to try jumping out. Then after I got the basin of water ready, I'd wanted to put it into the basin [which wasn't very full] but was afraid I'd scare it, so I started by pouring a little water over its body. Then I tried to put the kitten into the basin but as I carried it, I just felt that it was very frightened, so I took it out. I continued to pour water over the kitten and rub it a little, but I don't know, it looked very frightened so I gave up after a while. Then I dried it and let it run free in the porch. I feel so clumsy. Maybe it's not such a good idea to keep the kitten after all.
narz SG i think you did fine.... juz don't attempt to "submerge" ya kitty into the basin lah.... imagine yourself in its shoes (or paws rather.. ) cats don't love water so don't expect it to have lotsa fun bathing like ya dog does.
MooKu SG okay... i think i'll send it to the vet before I do anything else to further traumatize it... thank you narz jiejie and ahger jiejie.
aHGer^83 SG good try...my cat last time was lydat oso...den all kena scratch until like my family members kena assasined lydat...haha~ but like i said...try to talk some baby talk to it lor...it helps.....
MooKu SG Yay! An update on my kitten... MY kitten. I'm gonna keep it. Her fur looks much much more beautiful now cos she knows how to lick it clean now. And I don't quite have to worry about her running away... cos I've left her at the car porch a number of times before, while I went out shopping. And when I returned home, she was still there! My kitten gets along pretty well with my dog, just that they like to play around ALOT. Practically everytime they see each other they'll just start to "ka-chiow" each other here and there. When I get my hands on a digital camera, I'll snap a picture and put it up here.
