As the previous owner and moderators have decided to discontinue their involvement in this forum, we will be holding moderator selections to pass the management of this forum on.

I would like to invite all who are interested in the position of moderator for these forums to please PM me. Please include in your PM a short message to the community introducing yourself - who you are, where you are from, why you are interested in the post, why we should choose you, etc etc.

You will be Role Models and Leaders, tasked with upholding Peace, Order and Justice in our forum.

Closing date for applicants is 8th December 2007.

It should be noted that sillyme had requested for this forum to be totally removed.

On the assumption that this forum is to be continued (against the wishes of the forum creator).... what powers do future moderators have to "upholding Peace, Order and Justice in our forum." and how can these moderators ensure that "this forum is not for religious debate or contention. Please refrain from any such postings."???

why? which part?

1. that admin had decided to keep the forum against the wish of the forum creator, or

2. that the reality is: a moderator is a rather toothless role? and because of this, there is very little a moderator can do if people choose to come in to whack?

the crux of the matter is: what is the purpose of Eternal Hope?

on question 1.... perhaps... its not so bad if someone else can take over the running of the forum... of course, this would then be a decision to either abort or put it up for adoption...

on question 2... this would be the same for all forum everywhere, be it here is sgforum as a whole (including its various subforum) or anyother forum else where.

Hello eagle and all.

I admit that my information about transferring the forum fully was outdated. The information I had was what I got a few years back when I PMed Jason or FI. I was told that nothing could be done then.

Following my announcement to close EH, Jason PMed me informing me that it is possible to transfer the forum to someone else or make it a public forum.

I asked a few questions regarding what can be done to EH. After some consideration, I had requested that EH be deleted entirely. Subsequently, there were no more replies. Chin Eng, ben1xy and myself were removed as moderator without notification.

Other than my decision leave EH because of my current priorities. I think it is best to close EH because sustaining a Christian forum in sgForums is not feasible. It is my opinion that my interests, and I believe the interest of Chin Eng and ben1xy's too, are not in agreement with the Admininitrator of this sgForums.

Ideologically speaking, as well as ethically speaking. If the owner/founder of a forum wants a forum deleted, it should be done.

I am quite disappointed with Jason's decision to maintain this forum regardless of what sillyme had wanted.

i agree wif sillyme... Jason, u r doing more wrong than right for not respecting sillyme's decision. if he want tis place to close completely, let it be!

it's against the culture if this forum landed in wrong hand. i believe the oldies n regulars here will feel disguise if they see this place has totally change.

if matter becomes worse, sillyme can even sue u for copyright for using the name of Eternal Hope. Laughing

consider the point of a clean closure for the original owner of the forum.

the issue is not whether you or I agree to the closure. the issue is that the original starter of the forum wants it close.

1) Are you the true owner of the forum?

2) Even if this forum is deleted, another Christian forum will pop up. Hence, the reason that such a forum cannot be sustained does not hold.

3) The main reason to forgo the moderation is because of current priorities. What's wrong with letting others moderate?

No, but i was writing on behalf of sillyme. if you read his posts, his wishes are very clear.

the fact that such a forum is not sustainable for the purpose for which is intended vs whether another Christian forum will pop up or not is not connected. many other "Christian" forums have come and gone....

and yes, if EH goes away, surely there will be another one coming up. the issue is NOT about WHAT COMES UP, but about what the forum owner wants.

would you let someone take over your work? probably you may allow that to happen.
in this case the owner of this forum does not wish to do so, that's his prerogative. you and I need not AGREE TO IT.
