"I am the living bread which came down from heaven; if any one eats of this bread, he will live for ever; and the bread which I shall give for the life of the world is my flesh. The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?" (John 6:5152).

"Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you; he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him" (John 6:5356).

"The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ?" (1 Cor. 10:16)

Can i ask, why do people choose to only look at Luke and not the rest? just looking at MArk and MAtthew would have validated that Christ is truely present and not just symbolic

also I did address this part on whether Christ is present or not, show using Matthew 18:20, that He is indeed present in the gathering.

btw, the passage in Luke 22 and 1Cor 11 that I quoted
The exact word used when administrating the elements, were, ... This is My Body broken for you .... again This is My Blood shed for the forgiveness of sins....

no where was it said its symbolic.

*** psst: at NCC, we don't teach them as symbolic, but rather in a spiritual sense, literally transformed by the grace of God to be that of the broken Body and shed Blood of Christ.

hah... we don't use the word Eucharist... we called it Holy Communion...

Physically? no, the bread is still the bread, the drink (wine) is still as it is..

Spiritually? yes. transformed by the grace of God.

*Note: Not all protestant church holds this view, hence it may differ with other churches..

no, its not a physical transformation, its more like a spiritual transformation in the the changes is at the essence of the element and not the form.

hm... how can I explain this.... next time when you celebrate the Sacrament, look at the bread and the wine (do you use wine or grape juice?), and see if it still look like what it originally is? when its put into your mouth, does it still taste like what it originally is?

even though it may still look and taste as what it originally were, by faith, we know that we are indeed partaking the broken body of Christ and His precious shed blood.

anyway, the Holy Communion to us is an outward sign of an inward grace instituted by Christ.

The priest is the representative of Jesus Christ. At the sacrifice of the Mass, God works through the priest and transforms the bread into the body of Christ, and the wine into the blood of Christ. The outward appearances (accidents) do not change, but the substance changes. To the human eye it seems to be a an ordinary piece of bread, but it is not.
