Rockhound SG depends on wat the senior medics want uh for their unit...but basically if a coy sends out men to go for CMC...they will come back and be the plt medic at their coy... dun say coy medic...its either hq medic or rifle coy medics...coy medics are sgts... okla har...put it simply for u guys...its heng suay to be posted to smti to train to be a medic....where u go...lagi heng suay...

Rockhound SG no...there are 2 kinds of medics.....those belonging in the 'hq medic' group...and the 'rifle coy medic' group 3sgs if posted to unit will either be a company medic(in the rifle coy medic group)....or a medic 2ic(in the hq medic group)... hq medics comprises of the senior medic...2ic....and the rest of the medics who are ICs of certain departments of the med ctr...they are also called the BCS medics.. rifle coy medics are platoon medics and company medics.. it all depends on what the senior medic wants really.... i dunno abt armour or arty......but this is how infantry does it.. medics can go everywhere la... tradoc.. brigade.. formation... infantry battalion guards battalion armour arty division... amet wat nots...
Unidentified SG so is it a good choice to choose medic if you have a chance to choose? any pro and con ?
RvnRooRon84 SG Yup that's true; if posted to unit, you get to a whole lot more things. More hands on, get more experience. That's the good thing about posted to unit. Personally, I can say that being an instructor is really to miss out on a lot of things. When we gain a lot in theory, we miss alot on practicality and real life-practice. I guess that's quite sucky. But hell I like my job nonetheless! Anyway, haha the pinky guy from your batch ah? So you're from Alpha. At least Alpha has standard compared to Bravo, Charlie, Delta & Echo; seems to be going down as the batch comes in. I personally know a few guys in Alpha and they're a great bunch. But mr Pinky is still in my Hated List - in fact the Top spot... And it turns out that Every-single-body hates the guy(or gal or 'half-half' :lol!
RvnRooRon84 SG Nope no choice given. Its LLST. But if you do get to become a medic, well you can take it postitively or negatively. I will not try to entice you in liking be a medic..
Rockhound SG alpha was 'hammered' daily by a particular sailor medic...i think u noe who...plus..we were a no nonsense bunch in class but super slack during admin...
RvnRooRon84 SG Haha Abang Jo aka 1SGT Stevans. We use the latter name when we're in front of him (and talking bad about him) so as not to arouse his suspicion. And yes, another Most-Hated in SMTI. lol
Rockhound SG hmm coy line...okla... platoon medics...chiong with men....carry more....but after exercise...slack like no tommoroe...watch tv...soccer...bball.....canteen...mess.. coy medics...wooot...best la....encik suck cock buddy...u can get away with alot of things.. if u posted to hq...u will spend most of ure time in med ctr.....med ctr life very siong.....alot of things to remember....alot of paperwork....audits and inspections are a killer... but if u ask me...being a medic rox......
Rockhound SG he is ok la i suppose....got him to thank cos he helped me alot during course.. sgt raihan and sgt kong too...
borntolive SG yup hq life six...yaya no need to chion sua BUT lift isnt easy in medical centre..LOts of stuff to know n yr medical knowledge have to be very good cause u r constantly receving patients reporting sick...lots of paperwork n adminstrative work to do... ans phone calls are a big prob cause when u r new u dont know much n seniors more or less aint willing to help, ppl over the line complain n thats it for u.....just my opinions...i rather chiong sua
anonymouse SG Just watched Flags of our Fathers, and was trying to imagine if I were a platoon or company medic on the beaching force. Damn jialat man. Total chaos. More casualities than you have time or equiptment for. Guys getting shot down, blow up, eviscerated, and decapitated left right and center. How to treat, how to gather and evacuate? And imagine trying not to be shellshocked when you see the gore. You really have to depend on reflex action ingrained during peacetime training because your brain will probably freeze up. Then I imagined if I were MO at the BCS. Just as jialat. Many cases hopeless.
snk86 SG i am no spec man, i am a trainee under him.....omg nightmare nightmare.... heard most of the intructiors hates the gut out of him...damn is fazli still ard? miss him man, one of the nicest spec ard..
Unidentified SG sorry if i have gone out of topic , but i want to ask question Medics or doctor usually shine torchlight into causalty or patient eye what the purpose of it ? I went for 1st aid course in school , the trainer say looking into the pupil of the eye can determine wheather a person have taken drug during the time. Then the pupil of eye turn smaller when the light shine is normal. Is it true ? Post more detail the purpose of shinning light into eye. Thank you
Rockhound SG most of the time when a casualty get whacked at the back occipital portion of the head...it will affect his eyesight...the pupils tend to be unreactive to light and the left is not equal to the right..as the usage of the eye is controlled by the occipital lobe of the brain
anonymouse SG In a military medicine context, I would suggest: Hypovolemic shock - dilated pupils Morphine overdose - constricted pupils Head injury leading to increased intracranial pressure - dilated pupils Braindead - fixed dilated pupils Nerve agent chemical warfare exposure - constricted pupils any others?
