scabstermooch SG Trust me... you won't want to live in camp when that happens. Imagine what would happen if an infantry company were to be provided with cooking facilities... they would probably burn the whole place down!
Quirinus SG If I'm not wrong, Navy still has Cook-vocationalists and some of these are NSFs. Any Navy guys care to comment on the quality of shipboard food? Better or worse than SFI?
allentyb SG i don’t give a rat A S S to cookhouse food, i don’t EAT at the cookhouse, unless its friday, because ITS western, and in the past, i buy my food from the MESS
allentyb SG usually, there is small opening at the mess window, so we buy food from there, technically we are not inside the mess, and i am a clerk, so oh well, and we usually eat our food outside the mess
jianfish9 SG Who cares. I ORD already!!!! It would be quite sad though. Another NSF wasting his 2yrs in NS being a cook to defend the nation.
hao_hao SG maybe they should set up a SAF kitchen unit …. n haf kitchen officers n specs as chefs …. while the rest all jus help around the kitchen
Short Ninja SG [quote]Originally posted by scabstermooch: I disagree - dispensing with contractors mean that there is less of an incentive to cut costs on the part of the contractors. So it can mean higher quality food. Of course the Cooks must be trained properly and there must be a qualiied chef type to update the menu constantly. Oh, and the SAF might want to make the Cook's course a little easier. Last I heard, the SAF cooking course is the hardest course in the army and no one has ever passed it! [/quote Hardest course in the SAF? Wow,must have a special tab for those who passed also
Theballstopshere SG Have you tried army cook food before? If you have you would not say that SFI food sucks. Cos when you compare head to head, the SFI food is definitely better and it comes with more variety. Granted, SFI food can be bad sometimes but it is still better than army cook food.
tarutaru SG During my BMT, the food were cooked by army cooks, the rice is really terribly hard. Now SFI is much better although they served chicken everyday…
rooki SG Whatever the taste of the food, at the end of the day it is still free. So enjoy it while you can before you ORD. ORD loh!
