SUMMARY ... All of these "stars" are all scholars ... quick path to attain their stars ...

if you ask me who are those who attain the "stars" which is not a scholar and without a degree, probably i can name only BG (Ret) Patrick Choy, former Chief of Armour ...

LazerLordz SG

Nope, there was a reversion of rank after deployment. He retired as a BG.

flash9933 SG

BG Bernard Tan Kok Kiang and BG Wong Ann Chai are both President and SAFOS scholars ... got chance also ...

Master -_- SG

no la..he was Chief Of Arty as MG..then he become force commander..come back become SAFTI CMDT as BG... according to Estab.. can't go wrong.. i know his biography Mr. Green

Ponders SG

Singapore got 4 star. This rank is provided for in SAF Dress Code.

Just that current estab don't require a 4-star.

RaTtY8l SG

only those that have gone thru a war is considered a general, those tat nvr gone thru war only general in paper only.

Ponders SG

But the requirement of having to go war first before getting general rank is a myth.

The funny one is in one of the Army News editions. There was a picture of COL Tay Chuan Jin and CDF talking. There were at Aceh for the Tsunami relief thingy.

The caption, CDF sharing his insight and experience with COL Tay.

I couldn't help but laugh. But I think COL Tay has more insight and experience. haha.

Still very pai seh to wear 2 star than revert back to 1 star. "local" MG rank only or not.

Actually, I never figured out the whole "local" rank crap. I always felt tat if you gonna promote the fellow, do it. If he doesn't deserve it, then don't. Kinda wishy washy.

vileycl SG

the acting cdf also 2star … so is he still con?

Singer high SG

Local rank means you have the position and the responsibility (or the sh!t, depending on how you look at it! Laughing ), but not the pay.
