Old enough to bear arms yet too young to vote

iveco SG

Has this thought occurred to anyone before?

Icemoon SG

Most soldiers do as they're told. You don't need a mature person to be a soldier.

798 SG

same thing applied, you are 18 and allowed to fuck gal but not old enough to watch R21 movie. Laughing

TooFree SG

This again. Laughing

Okay ... What is your stand again if NS conscipts are to be drafted after completion of their Uni studies?

insouciant SG

Ha ha ha... I think this has been commented on by numerous young men entering NS for years...

Also scary is "young enough to order a platoon/section to charge into gunfire (PC/SC) but not old enough to vote".

gnoik SG

"Young enough to order a platoon/section to charge into gunfire (PC/SC) but not old enough to go to pubs/discos." Another irony! Laughing

insouciant SG

Aiyah, 18 can lawfully get you into discos lah. It's just that some of them prefer those with more spending power... not poor soldiers earning a few hundred a month. Wink

lousyboiboi SG

NSF earning a few hundred every month toolan the low allowance and vote against the gahmen how?!

Shocked Shocked Shocked

laurence82 SG

NS is a place to turn the 18s into 21s lar

willgoh SG

TooFree SG

Iveco you read that... don't make the govt show hand... Laughing

donchoo SG

Well this is singapore. Land of stupid laws and lawmakers.

I believe that our laws will keeps us in order, but these laws or rules are preventing us from maturing into a responsible society.

e.g, yesterday under 17 yrs old not allowed out in the streets after 11pm or they will be questioned if seen.

White elephants kicking up a fuss

speakers corner is just another white elephant, toe the line and mata will swarm all over you.

Those govt scholars.... Rolling Eyes
So much for thinking soldiers.

vIn.Warrior SG

Very true. i like~ Laughing

TooFree SG

Had the law gone down in details and are being enforced strictly? It mainly create a platform of boundary and who ever crosses the line can be deem 'offenders' at first instance.

For the society as a whole, the curfew on the 17-year old rule may not seen to be so bad afterall. Moreover, 'curfew' is quite a strong word. The police are mainly task in looking at informing the parents of late-stayers and not imposing a mandatory stayout. You may wish to refer to today straits time article whereby parents are supportive of the idea although our youngsters shoo it.

In the cases of the white elephant and the speakers corner, the impact on a multi-ethnics SG or disruption to our peace and stability are enormous if not properly handled. Were the offenders charged under the full scale of law? Routine questioning were just being carried out instead.

Although laws may often seem harsh if wrongly misinterpreted or rationale not explained clearly to its citizens but the legislators do have the benefits and welfare of the society in mind. Neutral

insouciant SG

They hoping you don't do it right, so at least the girl won't get pregnant. Laughing

Icemoon SG

The law seldom state what you can/allowed to do, the law focuses on what you cannot do.

Hence, there is no law saying when you can fark gal, but there is law saying girl under 16 cannot be farked.

Theoretically a boy of 15 can fark a 17 years old girl .. why not?

Get it?

nismoS132 SG

and the 17yr old gal will get in trouble for being screwed by the boy. it still comes under sex with minors Laughing

Icemoon SG

then if the boy screws a 15 years old gal .. who will get screwed in the legal sense? Laughing

iveco SG

I want the voting age reduced by 2 to 3 years. Nothing more and nothing less.

TooFree SG

Three words.
