Y only Officers and WOs wear ranks on Epaulets ?

Gordonator SG

the reason is very simple, if all soldiers wear rank on the epaulette, it will be very difficult for us to differentiate the officers from non comission officers.

imagine this, a CPT walks past, "Why u didn't salute me?"

reply, "Sorry Sir, I thought u are a 3SG." Laughing

Giving WOs officer type insignia just confuses the issue. The old-style Warrant insignia gave a much better indication of Warrant Officers’ status

minimalis SG

WOs have constantly been given the level up. For example, on Army terms, they’ve been upgraded to wear the gold belt buckle (previously silver), on par with the officer level. As for No.1 uniform peak caps, they now wear a gold chin strap instead of a normal coloured one. And WOs also have swords, although they are non-commissioned. They do not carry it down to parades.

wannabe!

London9 SG

They'll be entitled to a salute soon!! Wink Wink Wink

New_WO1 SG

If WOs now have Officers' responsibilities, wear Officers Uniform and are members of the Officers Club, it makes sense that they should also be saluted (like US Warrants).

nismoS132 SG

in kranji camp, those doing guard duty have to high-pot whenever a WO drives through. the RPs say it's a form of informal recognition for them, because they're as good as, or better than most officers.

New_WO1 SG

Sounds as if it is only a matter of time before WOs are given Officer
status in your army.

SpecOps87 SG

Why is it that we don’t put ranks on helmets like the US?

London9 SG

You can't have an 'informal' saluting policy for WOs if the official regulations say WOs shouldn't be saluted. It will confuse junior soldiers and cause conflicts.

SWO: Why didn't you salute me?

3SG: Why should I?

Good one. Twisted Evil
