lwflee SG I keep hearing about using condoms to somehow waterproof the weapon during water-borne ops. Now that doesn't sound logical to me because even with the barrel covered, water can still get into the weapon. When i did river crossing, non of us bothered to use protection; we just slung our rifle and swam. So my qn is what is/how do you properly use the condom in the context of water-borne ops? Also, the barrel of 5.56mm rifles is clearly too thin to ensure a proper fit. So are rubber bands used to secure the condom? Or Is the use of the condom just a myth?
lwflee SG I have. Taiwan and Brunei. And nope, haven’t used the condom (on a rifle i mean). I’m guessing the condom is used more to keep dust out of the rifle? But then i keep hearing about the use of condoms to prevent water from getting into the barrel.
wonderamazement SG infact, americans in the viet war used n0t 0nli the c0nd0ms t0 d0 that thin9 with the villa9ers there but use it t0 carry water...
Gordonator SG ok understood. btw, as for your question. i seem before in the movie, 'GI Jane' they also use condom to cover their barrel. maybe use rubber band loh.
Manager433 SG During my ICT as a NSmen way back in 1998, I used up total of 21 condoms before, during and after the ex starlight.
