ask u all. is ORD FFI compulsory? must one book it himself or will they send u a letter telling u to go to a certain camp's medical centre and take the FFI? Question

Yah, its necessary. u need to hand in the FFI form to get your pink IC. Plus must fill in some other paperwork/clearance forms.

For my experience, i had to book it myself. I had to go to Selarang to do my FFI b'cos my camp's medical centre not equipped for dental check. Called up Selarang's MC to book appointment. The medics there knew the procedure.
It was all OTOT, did it a couple of months before ORD.

But i not from Army, so i dunno if yur procedure will be the same Wink

For yur case, since medical corp already located at yur camp, can juz do it there i guess.

Not that I know of man..Even my FFI is pretty late compared to my ORD.I'm going down to NSC on Monday. Very Happy

well. one can only get back his pink IC when the S1 branch is satisfied that he is cleared by all the relevant departments, including the medical centre. this means that it is in the interest of the serviceman himself to arrange for an FFI as early as possible so that he can ORD without delay.

of course one can safely say that his ORD date will not be affected even if he fails to complete his FFI - he will have to make an urgent appointment for it. but that does not mean that his superiors cannot make his life difficult for whatever remaining time he has with them. Wink

well. once you get your clearance form from your clerk you can start going around doing clearance. typically this takes place 1-2 mths before you ORD, unless you plan to take long overseas leave until you ORD.

cos i heard from my medical centre friends that booking a dental/FFI takes months. so must really plan ahead.

Really depends on how busy the medical centre is. If they are free, they can give u an appointment as early as within 2 weeks of calling. For me, they gave me a date which was about a month after i made the call.

But later i had to re-schedule my FFI to an earlier date b'cos my batch was granted the NS reduction all of a sudden. The Selarang medical centre was pretty efficient and gave me an earlier date without any fuss.

Try and book a date before you clear leave so no need to waste your leave time. You can try to 'bargain' for an earlier date if the date they give you is too late, just give them some excuse like 'i going overseas' or something like that. Very Happy
