Zooish SG I think Gordonator's method of folding with the crest facing front is more suitable for well-seasoned berets. Well season beret, the very 'nua' kind, anyhow fold oso can, will still look nice when worn. New berets should be folded in another way. Dunno how to describe it but the crest faces one side not front.

Zooish SG ermm.... final product look correct, but the process look a bit funny leh Let me try step-by-step instructions: 1. hold the beret with crest facing your right. 2. close the 'mouth' (elastic part) of the beret, with the crest facing away from you. Now the 'mushroom top' is divided into 2 halves. 3. fold the half nearest to you inwards, over the closed 'mouth'. 4. fold the other half over the previously folded half. 5. place neatly folded beret under pillow when sleeping (or under any other heavy object) and let season. Gordonator SG don't worry, not that i'm boasting, but my beret when worn is one of the nicest looking in the whole of my department. the others wear until like mushroom like that. thank you. when i was recruit, i always admire the way my PC and sgts who fold their beret this way. if u fold the sideway method, not very nice when put on shoulder, cos it will lie flat and cannot see the crest. but all this depends on different people's preferences lah.
wuming78 SG i still fold it sideways. so when i wear the beret on my shoulder (anyway i rarely get the chance to do that!) i would have the beret face up.
Gordonator SG ok here's some tips on how to take care of your beret. firstly, always get the right size for your beret. not too small nor too big or else u end up looking like mushroom. the average people wears size 7. after u gotten the right size, cut away the ribbon at the end of the beret. so that u won't look like a cock with ribbbon sticking out of your head and it looks nicer when put on the shoulder. secondly, remember to use your hands to brush away all those unwanted wool when u get your new beret. a good way to season the beret is to wear it often and carry it around where ever u go. putting the beret under heavy weights won't season it, it only helps to get the shape when folded.
Gordonator SG the beret looks best when worn about 2 fingers above your eyebrows. the crest should be at the left forehead directly above the left eye. the tip at the right side of the beret should be able to touch the right ear.
wuming78 SG and the beret should be straight when worn, not slanted, esp when viewed from the back. able to touch right ear! that means the beret must be rather big leh, or your ears rather pointed.

Gordonator SG i've seem people using shaver to shave their beret. LOL! the best way to season it is to wear it often. if not, carry it with u where ever u go.
