One jump off a plane.
Another off a helicopter.
The other is off a UFO?
Very Happy

I know they have one for jumps made locally and another for jumps made in other countries overseas.

then what about the commando ones with the red backing behind the badgE?

12qwaszx SG

only commandos have red backing parachutist badge coz’ they need to do 5 jumps, more than what is required for normal airborne course of 3.

after some research on the web, i managed to find the answers to my own questions. Wink

Parachutist
Candidates who complete the Basic Airborne Course conducted at the Parachute Training Wing are awarded their 'wings'. Commandos must complete 5 combat equipment jumps and 2 night combat equipment jumps, while personnel from other vocations must do 2 clean fatigue jumps and 1 night jump. Commandos wear this badge with a red backing.

Senior Parachutist
To qualify for the Senior Parachutist's badge, personnel have to complete a total of 25 jumps, of which 5 must be combat equipment jumps, 2 night equipment jumps and 2 tactical descents. As with all parachute badges, this badge is worn above the left pocket. All Parachute Jump Instructors are Senior Parachutists, and wear this badge with a yellow backing.

Gordonator SG

Master Parachutist
Master Parachutists have to complete a total of 60 jumps, of which 30 must be day combat equipment jumps, 10 night combat equipment jumps, 5 tactical descents, and 1 intentional water jump.

hm.. thanks for the info! means at the BAC, personnel from vocations other than cdo need only do 2 clean fatigue jump and 1 night jump. sounds ok.. Wink

Rigger
The Rigger badge is worn by parachute riggers who have completed the Rigger's Airborne Course. Riggers have to do the same number of jumps as the Basic Airborne Course, and must be proficient in the packing of parachutes.

now what's missing is how these badges looks like in no.1?

any1 have pics of those no.1 airbrone badges pics?

wuming78 SG

well. these silver coloured ones are their no. 1 versions.

Gordonator SG

not quite. these airbrone badges have their no.1 version which is very colourful. cos i saw the Army RSM, his uniform is full of airbrone badges!

wuming78 SG

as far as i know, the SAF versions are silver in colour. for the RSM, he may be wearing airborne badges of other countries he has been to.

kopiosatu SG

hehehehe, overseas airborne badges can be given even on our own turf Laughing

serious, there's a dumb story behind it... my friends who went for the course did it

Gordonator SG

so what’s the story?

kopiosatu SG

foreign guy just taps your shoulder before u jump out the plane... u get that country's badge

wuming78 SG

yeah. ive heard that too. so i postulated that if a thai, an american and an australian instructor push u off the heli at the same time, u get 3 badges with one jump. cool huh? Mr. Green

Gordonator SG

Shocked Laughing

k lah when you put it that way it does sound a bit silly, but think about it - what's the diff if you do the jump in a foreign country anyway?
you'll still be using the std saf 'chute, the a/c will most likely be the a charlie also and even if it isn't, it doesn't really make much diff anyway. maybe you'll jump from a diff height, diff scenery but there isn't any fundamental difference between jumping in a foreign country and jumping in s'pore.
