breaststroke.. we called it "gaya katak" here. katak means frog. i was really terrible with that style. Confused

no lar. it was my first visit to sg, but quite long (abt a week). my mates said i'd be bored to death spending a week in sg. but.. i enjoy every single days when i was there. i got friends and if they couldn't take me out, i'd go out alone (even once got lost ..he..he..). Mr. Green

i've only been to indonesia once.. and it's not the main islands.. went to bintan for a retreat.. enjoyed karting while we were that.. Smile

i have a friend who has indonesian background.. her family is very closely knitted.. that's what i like about indonesian families.. nice and warm.. there was once at a restaurant, i saw a large group of indonesian kids celebrating someones birthday.. can see they totally enjoyed themselves and can feel the warmness between them..very different from singapore kids..

let us know in advance when u'll be coming.. maybe i can take leave to show u around Smile

try bali & lombok. bautiful. u can do loadsa outdoor activities and photography. Wink i still want to climb mt. rinjani in lombok. Wink

yeah.. indo families are very closer to one another. but my family also lor although we have more chinese side.
the problem with the kids.. maybe in here kids have loadsa time to play with one another (and not only playing with comp. games / playstation) than in sg. so usually they are quite close to one another. Wink

hmm.. i take that as a promise. you better prepare lor when i really came. can ask you to show ard. for hours and hours.. Mr. Green

mt. rinjani... how tall is this mountain? it's been years since i've climbed a mountain.. i was climbing almost every year when i was studying.. is it a popular place among locals? is it safe?

mt. rinjani is abt. 3.600 mdpl. it's very popular. it has a beautiful lake. what mountains have you climbed before ?
i've been to mt. kerinci (3.805 mdpl), it's the second highest mt. in indonesia. i was really glad that i had that chance. Razz

i've been to mostly malaysian mountains.. gunung ophir (few times), kinabalu (twice).. berkilah (just a waterfall).. in the army, climbed some in brunei Smile

oh i think my friend mentioned his friend climber rijani b4.. it was a live volcano right? i did some check up yesterday.. read it's quite dirty? and got fierce monkeys?

abt the fierce monkeys that's true. whether it's dirty or not .. i haven't climb there. perhaps yeah.. i hate those climbers who throw the garbage in mountains. so irresponsible.. Evil or Very Mad

yeah.. i hate climbers who litter also.. spoils the environment and breeds mosquitoes Evil or Very Mad

berkilah and ophir are usually a day's climb Smile not too bad.. ophir's a bit boring and steep though.. berkilah route is along ariver.. so it's quite fun Smile

kinabalu is the highest mountain in south east asia.. Smile but i think lately, they say some other mountain in iran jaya is measured to be slightly higher.. can't remember the exact height.. i think it's 4101m.. it's an easy climb.. cos usually u take transport up to midway before u climb it.. takes about 2 days to reach the summit and one day to climb down.. it's VERY beautiful up there... maybe i can show u the photos when u come singapore.. the view is just breathtaking Smile .. i've seen 60+ yr old climb up before.. of cos, they had porters to carry their stuff Smile

oh ya, i went to gunung tahan also.. highest in west malaysia.. can't remember the height.. this one is tougher.. takes 4 days to climb up.. and 3 days to climg down.. and that's at a slower pace and a longer route... but it's very clean.. primary forest.. very wonderful natural surroundings... awesome experience.. you need to cross seven rivers along the way.. it's an unforgettable experience Smile
