Does VSC need to know swimming & have driving licence? If die die u faill the IPPT or watever, will u still graduate?

I seriously do not have the qualification to answer you.

1. No,thats the official time, but Instructors are humans too. They also prefer to let you off abit earlier then 11pm. They also need to go home to their wives, girlfriends & kids.

2. No. You dont need to know swimming or driving to join VSC. It might be good if you pick up some of those skills on your own. POs tend to always find themselves in situations that is not expected. (Think how some POs in police cars was rammed into a canal can liao.)

3. IPPT question answered by nice fella above.

I went for the VSC Psyo test last Saturday. Goodnes, they are really professional & polite. It has been 10 years since I last applied in SPF.

I remeber when I applied for PO in 1998 in the OLD PA that time. The interviewers are really horrible. They shouted at us (Applicants) and barked us around. The FI f* us around during the urine test.

I was not selected as I screwed up the interview (my fault). My 2 female classmates were selected later but turned down coz they get frigten from the interview.

Hi people,

Just to check with you guys if u all have receive the letter from VSC?

I have completed my interview on the 20th of March. I have also done my medical check up before 18 April.

During the Psychometric test, we were informed that the result of the application will be out within 1 or 2 months after the medical.

However, till now i have not receive any letter from the VSC. (Dun knoe whether the postman got lost it or not... haha)

I heard from one of the VSC during one of the roadshow,. She says that there will be a new batch of trainee end july. And we might probably receive the letter during mid July.

Really looking forward to open my mailbox to see the letter of acceptance. =)

By the way, should i email the VSC HQ recruitment to check?

1) I've been overseas on and off. Lots have changed at the VSCHQ Recruitment Unit.

It looks like because of manpower shuffling. The letters are sending out to you late. Their fault. Not yours or Singapore Post.

2) Yes, you can always email them.

Thats because, VSCs manning those events, are working or studying in the private sector too. If they cannot be professional or polite in the VSC, they should also kiss their careers goodbye.

You might not know it. But chances are, you will eventually meet fellow VSCs under your chain of command (Employees), employers, vendors & even your students.

But do take note, that even if they are polite or act professional. Matters like office politics do still happen in the VSCs.

But as long as you enjoy the police work. Those fellas you can always ignore as fellas that fark spiders regularly.

Hi viciouskitty74, Thanks for your reply. Be it just for show or real, I am impressed during the VSC briefing last Sat as it really portrays the professionalism & commitment of the force. I always like police work or uniform group since young. Have been in NPCC for secondary but did not shortlisted for SPO Interview after my Law degree several years ago. Just MR from Commando after 6 reservist.. Anyway, I really hope to contribute to VSC even I start off as a coporal. Looking forward to the interview if shortlisted...

viciouskitty74 SG

Oh, I am not saying those are for show.

I bid you success in joining VSC and enjoying your service.

We need more officers that actually can commit, then just joining thinking there is glory without having to sweat.

Having went thru CDO for 8 years..I am confident of adapting to training in VSC. As to legal knowledge & Penal code, I have been doing it almost everyday...I just hope they can post me to somewhere near my hse.

viciouskitty74 SG

Errr.....you arent technically forcibly posted to any division.

You should have a selection of divisions to go to. If they have space.

Chances are, there is need of officers for almost everywhere. Though specialised units may have the requirements that you serve at a land division before you transfer over to join them.

The idea is that, if you done regular police work, specialised division work should be even chicken feat.

Specialised divisions:

Airport, CNB, TRACOM, VSCHQ, PMU, TP & PCG.

Though PCG is known to take in freshly graduated from TRACOM VSCs due to their work scope. PCG also have on the duty training so they can absorb in fresh VSC in the sense that their work is different from normal land division.

Since you suggested that you are working in law industry at the moment, then you should consider choosing a division near your office. Makes for easier commute. That should likely be the 'A' or the 'E' divisions.

Singmarine SG

I work in Bedok area & stay in Tampines…Will VSC posted to PCG also got those PCG sea allowance? I understand PCG officers are paid shipboard allowance. Will the training PCG provided also catered to VSC working hours ie evening time?

viciouskitty74 SG

In that case, 'G' & 'AP' is totally near your place.

Sea Allowance? Last I know. Dont have.

Training will depend on what kinda training, conducted by who. For the VSCs, they always try to arrange weekday evening in service training and some weekends.

But generally, on the job training should suffice. Unless you want to do more specialised work for the PCG, then can consider taking some months off to take the gruelling regulars conducted training.

Singmarine SG

Thanx again…When u say post to G Div, can I request for the specfic NPC or NPP? Coz G Div HQ & Tampines NPC, ChangKat NPP is within walking distance to my house. I am staying in the midpoint of these 3 units.

I prefer not to go to those Pasir Ris or Changi area NPC.

viciouskitty74 SG

I prefer not to go to those Pasir Ris or Changi area NPC.

You can request for specific NPC, after you graduated and posted to Division.

Hi,

Does anyone confirm whether the VSC training is at Old PA or HTA?

"Deputy Commissioner of Police (DC), Mr Goh Liang Kwang, officially opened the new VSC Training Centre located at the old Police Academy on 29 May 2008. With the Centre established, our officers will be able to take up developmental courses and selected basic training modules."

Hi,

Does anyone confirm whether the VSC training is at Old PA or HTA?

-Police Life Annual 2008

Shall be at HTA, every monday and thursday, 7pm to 11pm for about 9 months to complete the course before passing out...

Singmarine SG

Any kind soul can share who to get from Tampines to HTA in the cheapest way?? No car, so have to use public transport. Taxi is too expensive.
