Significant drop in non-emergency calls
for SCDF ambulance
Public education efforts by the Singapore Civil Defence Force
against abuse of its emergency ambulance service are working.
SCDF says it saw a significant drop in the number of
non-emergency calls and false alarms in the first six months of the
year.
They formed just 4.5 per cent of the more than 58,200 calls
received in the period.
SCDF also says that the two Private Ambulance Operators it
engaged from June has met targets set.
These include a response time of 11 minutes.
In June, SCDF’s emergency ambulance service met the target 84
per cent of the time.
This compared to 79 percent of the time in May, before the two
private ambulance operators were engaged.
