New SCDF chief affirms commitment
SINGAPORE: The new commissioner of the Singapore
Civil Defence Force said the SCDF remains committed to carrying out
its roles and functions.
Mr Eric Yap took over on Wednesday as commissioner
in place of former chief Peter Lim, who has been suspended
following investigation by the Corrupt Practices Investigation
Bureau into allegations of serious personal
misconduct.
Mr Yap said SCDF will continue to provide prompt
emergency services to the public, and enhance its operational
capabilities.
He added SCDF looks forward to working with its partners and the
public in advancing its initiatives, programmes and community
outreach efforts.
He said he acknowledges the contributions of SCDF's Operationally
Ready NSmen, and the strong support of its partners and members of
the public, in working with SCDF to keep Singapore safe and secure
for all, and looks forward to their continued support.
