SCDF chief formally appointed
SINGAPORE: The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF)
has formally appointed its new Commissioner Eric Yap Wee
Teck.
The Change of Command Parade was held on Thursday
evening at the National Service Training
Institute.
The event was officiated by Mr Tan Tee How,
Permanent Secretary from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Mr Yap's appointment comes after former commissioner Peter Lim was
suspended following on-going investigation related to serious
personal misconduct.
Speaking at the parade, Commissioner Yap said he is heartened the
officers and units remain united and steadfast in carrying out
their roles as professionally as they have always been.
"The quest to protect and save lives and property is a continuing
journey," he said.
"I am confident that the resilience we have built as an
organisation and the strong ties we have forged with our partners
and the community will enable us to face the challenges
ahead.
"As Commissioner of SCDF, I look forward to working with all of
you. Your continued support is vital to SCDF."
The parade was attended by some 600 guests including MHA senior
directors, senior officers from Home Team departments and
Operationally Ready Nsmen.
