Let me offer my interpretation : All boils down to self, simple maths are sufficent for folks who live simply, however, due to our selfish reasons, we use our intelligence and use complex maths formula to manipulate and play with numbers for our own selfish gain. So without Self, the creator, unneccessary sufferings would have not been created!
