sinweiy SG strange, why is it not in the dividend of 108? like we have 54(x2), 27(x4), 36(x3), 18(x6). as when we recite to a count of 108, it's consider as 100 count. 8 is minus off for wandering thoughts per se. /\
paperflower SG 27 smaller beads plus one big one(which i counted in) think that big one is to enable me to know that i have completed one round. oh so i don't count in the big bead is it? yeah it doesn't look pink in the picture also but it is really pink when hold it and look closer comparing with other crystal colors.
sinweiy SG Originally posted by dragg: there are 10 types. 1080 which is rare. 108, 54, 42, 36, 27, 21, 18, 14, 9[/b]ok...then i wonder how the 42, 21 & 14 is use. /\
An Eternal Now SG All chanting beads are used for chanting. The difference is that the one worn on the neck can only be worn by monks and nuns. Lay people like us can only wear the wrist one.
An Eternal Now SG In Buddhism we dont emphasize on that. But if you really want you can ask a shi fu about it. If we use it to chant often, naturally there will be a 'ling qi' in it. Naturally it will be 'bright'... so no need to kai guang
rahula25 SG In Tibetan buddhism, there are some mantras are specially used to clease away the impurity of our newly bought chanting rosary. If you are a chinese mahayana practitioner, then there are no specific mantras to purify your mala. However, u can use some fresh flower water or obtain some water offered at the buddha's shrine to wash your new mala. If your mala is sadal wood, then u need not perform this. Merely reciting the any mantra or Buddha's name is already a good cleansing of your mala. Outside ritual is not important as the crucial practise is your mind.
