Inspired by the Chatterboxes' thread!
The first few lines of Macbeth's 'Dagger Scene' in Act 2 Scene 1
of Macbeth:
Is this a dagger which I see before me,
The handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch
thee.
I have thee not, and yet I see thee still.
Art thou not, fatal vision, sensible
To feeling as to sight? or art thou but
A dagger of the mind, a false creation.....
Acid's Hokkien translation:
wa tao zheng ji leh si toh ma?
yi eh "handle" di pang wa eh chui? lai~ hor wa teh
yi~
wa wu le bo, bo wa kua li bo din tang.
li si mi si eh si eh "vision", eh siu
wu kam cheng lai kua? ar si li
si ji leh wu tao nao eh toh, ji leh CHIONG eh
"creation"....
I'm thinking.... let's try to translate famous songs/literary
works into other languages and dialects!
