Yeah, its really sad that they've brought up the possibility of
doing this a few times. Packing off the old and poor folks out of
the country. Its like something out of a bad sci-fi
novel. Its like the elderly have become a social underclass in
Singapore. Just look around you!
I would far rather chop off my hand than send my parents to an
old folks' home in Singapore, JB, or anywhere else on earth for
that matter.
So long as I have two arms, two legs, and a head on an intact
body, the welfare of my parents is the responsibility of my
siblings and myself. If my parents can put up with caring for me
for 25 years (and counting), I can put up with caring for them in
their twilight years.
Some things are more than just about dollars and cents....
sadly, with magnificent suggestions like this from our illustrious
leaders......
