"Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed" is a common idiom here used to
describe someone who looks very sharp, bright, and alert.
I always think of squirrels when I hear "bushy-tailed".
Squirrels are always zipping about here, hence the association, I
guess. 
oohhhhh....
"bushy-tailed" somehow conjures in my mind an image of a bushy
messy pair of eyebrow ..
and my kiddo indeed has messy eyebrow :(
