1. Look, the rich kid did not ask to be rich. It is not an evil
thing to be rich. So why is that considered as cheating? In all
honesty, I'm sensing an undercurrent of grudge against rich people
in your tone.
And I've already talked about how much I suffered in JC because of
my family's financial problems - surely you didn't think that I
wouldn't feel a little pang of hurt when I see rich kids lugging
handphones then? But then I would pull myself together and refuse
to hate them, for they certainly weren't out to hurt me.
And certainly, I don't see them as being out to cheat me of
anything.
2. Remember Engin Prof? Remember the concept of
'universalizability'? What applies to you shall apply to me as
well.
Remember the concept of 'respect-for-persons'? About having the
duty to respect the rights of others if they respect our
rights?
Why not see it this way: the cheater has imposed his values of
cheating on the rest of us honest people.
So I won't weep as I impose my values of honesty on the cheater.
Since he sees it fit to impose his values on me, I see it fit to
impose my values on him. And since he won't respect my right to a
fair and honest exam, I won't respect his right to enjoy the fruits
of his cheating activities.
'Nuff said. I'm outta here.
