udontknowme SG yeah...me walk A LOT too cos im too lazy to look up which bus goes where and what time so i end up walking 20 minutes to town and 20 minutes back
ShrodingersCat SG Both me and the hubby loves to grocery/market shop... if bo dai ji to do, we go supermarket walk around, and i have a system one.. I MUST WALK DOWN EVERY SINGLE AISLE... i do NOT aisle hop.. I will go up one aisle... go down the other.... up.... down... The Hubby would spend more time in fruits and veg session.. he will spend HOURS.. (ok i am exaggerating)... selecting fruits and veg... and glare at some aunties who attempt to teach him how to select (like look down on him u know.. man... cannot select fruits... ) I dont think I can b with a man who doesnt like to grocery shop leh. Looking back, that is prbably why any rship that failed.. failed. Cos he didnt like to grocery shop. -sniff- good riddance.
Meia Gisborn SG I view grocery shopping as one of the necessary minor inconveniences of modern living. Fortunately, there are two huge (and I mean HUGE!) grocery chain stores literally within a few minutes' drive of my house, and it's generally not a problem to drive to one of them at a moment's notice to get something that you've just discovered you're out of. Both of these stores have self-service checkout registers at which you scan, bag and pay for the items yourself, so you don't have to stand in line at a regular checkout line waiting for the granny in front of you to fish out pennies from her handbag to pay for her groceries. Plus, the self-service registers usually don't have waiting lines. Then there's the mountain of coupons in the Sunday papers that can save you quite a bit on your grocery bills!
sbst275 SG I do go to supermarket, mainly to buy things not available at chap huey tiam like my darling's shower foam, ice cream
Ferret SG Guilty as charged. I love the NTUC, Carrefour, Shop N Save, Giant, Cold Storage....etc I especially love the conditments section ! And I would up and down all aisles just to check everything !
ShrodingersCat SG Actually.. hruhru Fatum would probably identify w this.. I love to look for things suitable for me to go camping with. Dehydrated foods, instant mixes.. etc etc that can make the meals tastier would giving me undue load.... Also liek to see bakign stuff.
littlestream SG Grocer shopper checking in Supermarkets are my playgrounds *snigger and waiting for jetta to sign in too* Wow!!! Rhonda.......you lost 8kg!!!! I want too. edit: oh forgot to mention....i am a coupon shopper too.
av98m SG I LOVE LOVE LOVE Grocery shopping. But I hate most of my fellow shoppers. I get around that by shopping at places like Cold Storage (Great World City) because the aisles are much wider and you can have 2 shoping carts moving side by side without any problems. The NTUCs are too narrow, too crowded, and I do not like the people that tend to shop there. (rude parents, screaming children, cranky aunties and old ladies etc) In other words, I prefer the more upmarket places even if it means I need to travel much further. interestingly enough, prices are quite standard. So I only pay more for transport.
elindra SG Cold Storage has always been a better place to shop It's stressful shopping in NTUC And yes you get the rude parents, screaming kids and cranky old folks But too bad over where I am there is only NTUC
ShrodingersCat SG I like GIANT also cos they have weird things.. and they have all these fresh fishies laid out.. with their English names.. so u know what a Ngo Hee is.. or Beh Ka hee... and all that... But of course upmarket places r goood la.. like Liberty and Jasons and Etc tc
sbst275 SG NTUC things ex also My place nearest DFI outlet is at Toa Payoh, if not is the one at Kovan
SydneyLibrarian SG oh I've never loved grocery shopping as much as I have, ever since moving here! There's the neighbourhood Coles supermarket hubby & I love going to at least once a week... we know what times the specials are for meat, bread and bbq chix We have also made frens with the guy who pushes all the trolleys back to near where the entrance is. Hubby & I love shopping at Coles, and also the Asian supermarkets when you can find sooo many things we miss from back home! In fact we're going shopping tonite... going to look for some household products!
Wanda SG It's true...I read a long time ago that some study has shown that grocery shopping is relaxing, esp after a hard day's work....something to do with being non-taxing on the mind.
browniebaobao SG I enjoy buying groceries back home.. make sure my family dun run out of food supplies or toiletries.. but duno y ple always say gg supermarket do grocery shopping is an auntie's job.
Fatum SG heee .... I'm a pack rat, so I don't really care about the load ... and I don't sting on food ... I'll take out the core of toilet paper rolls to save weight, but I won't skimp on that bottle of peanut butter ... water used to be the biggest problem, till I discovered the joys of MSR hand-held water purifiers ...
av98m SG It depends on where you shop. I get aisle rage if I'm at NTUC Sometimes, I'd be very relaxed and happy...up to the point the cashier adds up my bill
