jetta SG Me!!!!! Armed with my stash of coupons too. (Hi-5s streamie) I visit several markets for different items. Eg, one for meats, another for greens and of course the Chinese and Filipino markets for Asian must-haves. As soon as you enter the Asian supermarkets, wham! the smell hits you. Have to say that shopping here is more pleasant than in Singapore. It never gets crazy-crowded like it does in Sg, the aisles are way wider and the selection is immense. Prices, well... you win some, you lose some.
udontknowme SG hurhurhur...once i went grocery shopping with a bunch of people and we bought like $200worth of stuff after spending an hour there and almost left without paying omg...the poor guy came running after us and he was like "you guys have not paid!!!!" woah.....
viciouskitty74 SG Imagine.... 3am in the morning. Ride to Mustafa Centre to buy tomatos & the Vishnu Yogurt. Yep. I love grocery shopping. For squirring in the office desk. ABC Bargain Centre and Sheng Siong Supermarket the best!
Rhonda SG Sigh... tell me about it... yesterday, no choice, I had to walk for two hours straight! I needed to drop something off at someone's house 'in the neighbourhood', which turned out to be soooooooooooooooooo darn faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar away! On the map, it always looks like 'a hop and a skip' away, but yeah, try walking the actual distance! By the time I headed home, I was toying with the idea of hitching a ride from ANY cute guy!
Rhonda SG Yeah... I cannot marry a guy who doesn't like grocery shopping, period. And nope, they won't be famous last words! Someone who loves to eat, who loves to go to the supermart / markets, who will discuss what to eat tomorrow when we're eating today's meals! And also, someone who will spend big money sprucing up the kitchen, buying nifty kitchen gadgets, and loves having close friends over for yum cha or makan sessions. You have any potential matches for me?
Rhonda SG I wish that supermarts were more 'singles-friendly', ie. I want to be able to buy just ONE Four N Twenty pie (yes, I've 'discovered' it and LOVE it!), five fish fingers, two 'dimsims' and a handful of frozen fries without having to buy huge huge family portions that I end up having to finish up before it expires and then growing fat fat fat on them! Or... get me a man who will help me ensure that my fridge is always rid of food before expiry dates! I need to 'employ' a Quality Control Officer... for the stock in my fridge and pantry! Waaaah harharharhahahaha!!
viciouskitty74 SG Hmmmm.... Men who likes nifty gadgets might not really be into cooking. Was staying over with a male friend at Seattle. His kitchen is beautiful. Magazine spread quality. But sorry, he only cooks instant noodles and make expresso coffee.
alexkusu SG I like grocery shopping looking at all the foods..reading the labels...deciding whether to buy or not.. poking the meats..deciding whats the best way to cook it...food combinations
Rhonda SG Oh yes!!! Larger, much larger, and the selection! Oooooh, the selection!! Cole's issue weekly full-coloured newletters advertising weekly specials and they have this loyalty card program (Flybuys) tagged to their weekly specials as well and I must say, I am a royal sucker for the gimmicks! Like, they'll say, Buy 2 of this product, get 1000 FlyBuys points!! and I'll go crazy! I think I have enough food in my house now to keep me well-fed for like two and a half weeks, in the event of war.
Rhonda SG I do. What I meant was, I don't wanna buy a pack of 12 Frozen Fish Fingers because it takes me forever to finish them! I just wanna buy five frozen fish fingers at a time.
Rhonda SG Me too! Before I purchase condiments / canned soup etc, I will scrutinise the food labels, make comparisons, etc. If the dreaded flavourings (635) and others are listed, sorry!... back onhe shelves, baby!
alexkusu SG i could spent 2hours just browsing for groceries must not only look at products available at eye level..must scrutinise the products lower down (usually cheaper), or upper levels (usually more expensive)
choco B SG Is he married? That can be quite an attraction really "Single Man looking for love, comes with professional kitchen "
viciouskitty74 SG Agreed. I take 6 fish fingers for snacking before lunch! And thats because the friend already finished 6! I had hope I can eat all!
viciouskitty74 SG Cough cough...that one is newly single. And no. that Kitchen wont come with him. But if you have such a lobang, let me know also. I really would love to find one with a kitchen that allows for frying, deepfrying, Cooking with lots of spices!
whitsundays SG Just for curiosity, do you guys buy your meat from the supermarket (Woolies or Coles) or from the butchers?
