av98m SG Only if you insist on diving with a dslr lah I actually prefer compact cams for underwater use.
Fatum SG I still have the very first underwater camera that I've bought .... an MX-10 with a strobe, wide angle lens, and a macro kit with framer, all packed into a pelican case, selling the whole package for $700 if you're interested ...
the Bear SG hey guys.. look.. i've still got one year to go with my car loan.. and an iMac to buy at the end of the year!
av98m SG Bah, you can get a canon and its matching housing for less than 1.5k, and forget all the strobes and stuff. I've seen magazine quality pics taken with a simple cam and housing. All the add-ons are only for specialised uses or gear wankers.
the Bear SG more weirdo creatures from the sea.. a Geoduck.. it's gooey and doesn't look like a duck but it's called a "gooey-duck" a Spanish Dancer nudibranch which takes off when threatened and is like the skirt of a Flamenco Dancer, so it gets its name a Robber or Coconut Crab.. they climb trees and sometimes eat coconuts (thus the name).. they are like the hermit crab in that they are not fully armoured and when young, they use shells of other creatures for protection.. later in life, they deposit chalk and other calcified stuff on their abdominal armour to harden it..
ShrodingersCat SG OOh didnt know there were so many different operators. Can PM me the contacts? I probably won't go for it anytime soon... but its good to have it around when the urge strikes! MORE CREATURES!!!! MORE CREATURES!!!!!!
the Bear SG i'll get them from my sister then PM you btw, my sister's in melbourne at the moment.. so, if not in a hurry, can wait? if in a hurry, i go to the place directly to ask them coz i don't have their number
ShrodingersCat SG Hey thanks! it's no hurry... Just tt we happened to talk abt it so decided to ask The earliest I think I would go would be next yr I think... just so many other things lined up till end of the year liao!!!!
the Bear SG more creatures.. these will destroy your fish tank if keep them in a normal glass tank... Pistol Shrimp: the thicker claw is its "gun".. the claw creates a bubble which implodes and causes a hugeass shockwave capable of killing its prey up to 6 feet away.. the imploding bubble has been measured to momentarily reach 5,000 degrees and the energy is so intense it gives off light.. the noise from the implosion (causing the shockwave) has been measured at over 200 decibels... Mantis Shrimp: there are 2 types of this type of shrimp, one which spears its prey and other which bludgeons it to death... the one which bashes its prey to death uses its two front legs which look like heavy clubs.. they have been known to hit their prey with the impact of a .22 calibre bullet.. the acceleration of the "clubs" have been measured at around 10,500G and reach speeds up to 23m/s.. both have been known to shatter aquarium glass..
