i read an article in USAToday and was aghast...
schools in the US are going to ban playing during recess...
SERIOUS!
check it out => Schools
bans recess games
so dodgeball was banned, and maybe rightly so.. but tag and
football?
their excuse was "children are running into each other" and "broken
arms and dislocated fingers"
which set me thinking... was it really that, or were the schools
afraid of litigation-happy parents? then also, where does it
end?
already, we have people winning lawsuits where they themselves got
hurt because of their own stupidity... blaming others seem to be
profitable...
soon, we will all have to follow a set of rules... personal
judgement, subjectivity, common sense will all take a backseat and
we become automatrons... unable or unwilling to take the personal
responsibility to make a decision without someone hounding you
about it, laying down a set of stupid rules.. and then browbeating
you into submission no matter how stupid the rules are...
i feel, somewhere along the way, we have lost our common
sense...
either that, or we have lost our moral courage to tell those idiots
who insist on insane rules to bugger off..
what do you think?
