This thread is gonna make some of you flip or see red!
And yup, this is an
info-thread supposed to be 'in defence' of fat!
Read this and thought it was interesting :
"As nutritionists know, fat is a vital nutrient. Like carbohydrates
and protein, dietary fat is an important source of energy for the
body. In fact, fat is the most concentrated source of energy in the
diet, providing 9 calories per gram, as compared with 4 calories
per gram from eithe rcarbohydrates or protein.
"Dietary fat supplies essential fatty acids, such as linoleic acid,
which is especially important for young children's proper growth.
Fat is also required for the maintenance of healthy skin,
regulation of cholesterol metabolism, and as a precursor of
prostaglandins, the hormone-like substances that regulate some body
processes.
"An excess of fat in the diet, however, is increasingly being
recognised as a risk facotr influencing the development of several
chronic diseases.

Interesting, right? See, you can't eradicate fat from your diet
entirely!
