Wanda SG 1. How much ang pow to give for church wedding? 2. Same question for Malay wedding. 3. If a couple of guests also bring their 2 kids, do they give an amount for the 2 adults' share or for 4 persons' share? I've come across this before: 2 adult guests + 2 or 3 teenage children who gave $120 ang pow in total (the cost was $70 per head), so it got me wondering...
choco B SG This is usually my practice: 1. How much ang pow to give for church wedding? I'm assuming there's a buffet tea / lunch following? About $50-60. If I'm invited to a wedding dinner after, then alittle less because I'll give another at the dinner. 2. Same question for Malay wedding. $30-40 3. Cost * per person. Child still fills one seat at the table. Babies not counted.
shinta SG If he can afford that, he'd hav got them costs and everything all calculated. and hey, we think the same way. "If you do, I am sure your partner will be the first to F you up and call you a stupid fool!!" No way am I gg to do that. Cos If we have a dinner in place, we'd have expect that.
Wanda SG 1. Was thinking of a bit less than $50 for the church wedding - for a not so close colleague (and don't intend to attend the wedding dinner at Sentosa). 2. Around what you'd mentioned. This nice gf is getting married, and if she invites me, I may give min. $50 coz she's very kind hearted and rescues many stray cats. 3. Agree with you on the per pax.
Gazelle SG how would you know the wedding couple doesnt like 88? TRADITIONAL chinese dinner leh.. You eat too much potato isit?
Gazelle SG regardless if he or she is chinese indian malay ang moh, or whatever. if you attending a traditional chinese wedding, you just have to play along with the tradition. who is barking? you?
Gazelle SG am I suppose to say that you have a impressive potato family or what? btw, they dont serve potatos during chinese wedding dinner... because we chinese think that potatos are poor man food..
BufPuf SG just give what u think it's appropriate i am sure the couple who have the dinner already know they have to fork out certain amt of money....if u feel that u can help to lighten their load..den give more.. my mum was telling my future sis-in-law about the ang baos she received for her side...and remind her to discuss with her mum that who is going to take the ang bao..her parents or my brother&sis-in-law..if the couple are keeping..they can use the ang bao money to pay for the dinner.. some family...the guy side pay for the wedding and the ger side's parents take all the ang bao..so more shiong more the guy
ShrodingersCat SG Now.. i'm all for traditional weddings but.. with regard to difference between $80 and $88.. err.. I'll classify picking on that in the micromanaging obsessive catergory. There is another word for it of course.. but it isn't nice to use.
