Excerpt from KARAZEN.com :

Tsui Hark was to direct the movie but after some complications with the film company, Tsui Hark ended up dropping his role as the director and was replaced with Andrew Lau Wai Keung and Alan Mak Siu Fai (of such movies: Infernal Affairs trilogy, the Young & Dangerous series and The Strom Riders).

(Orh... not THE Andy Lau!) Razz

Hong Kong actor/singer Edison Chen Koon Hei was to play lead role of Fujiwara Takumi but was then later offered the role of rival racer; Takahashi Ryosuke which was rumored to be played by Hong Kong actor/singer Nicholas Tse Ting Fung. Replacing Edison was Taiwan mega pop star Jay Chou Kit Lun, this will be Jay's first full length feature movie (he has already had a movie based on him called 'Hidden Track' which he played a cameo role). The part of Bunta was first given to the legendary Hong Kong actor/singer Andy Lau Tak Wah, but due to unknown reasons Andy dropped the role, it was then given to Hong Kong actor/singer Anthony Wong Chau Sang. Korean singer Hyori Lee was to play the role of Natsuki Mogi but the role was later given to Japanese actress Anne Suzuki.

Rhonda SG

Yeah, man! This movie seems to have a lot of cast changes! Even the Director of the movie had 2nd thoughts! hehe! Let's see...

Director was supposed to be Tsui Hark, but he dropped it and Andrew Lau Wai Keung and Alan Mak Siu Fai (of such movies: Infernal Affairs trilogy, the Young & Dangerous series and The Strom Riders) took on the directing instead. (Whoa... look at the films these two have directed! woohoo!! can make it! can make it! Mr. Green )

Lead role of Fujiwara Takumi - supposed to be Hong Kong actor/singer Edison Chen Koon Hei but was then later offered the role of rival racer and Jay Chou was offered the role instead;

Takahashi Ryosuke - rumored to be played by Hong Kong actor/singer Nicholas Tse Ting Fung but was later taken by Edison Chen.

Funiwara Bunta - first given to the legendary Hong Kong actor/singer Andy Lau Tak Wah, but due to unknown reasons Andy dropped the role, it was then given to Hong Kong actor/singer Anthony Wong Chau Sang.

Natsuki Mogi - Korean singer Hyori Lee was to play the role of Natsuki Mogi but the role was later given to Japanese actress Anne Suzuki.

Soooo many changes! Hope that it's not ominous! Razz hehe!

I tell you, car-racing is sooooo HOT! Mr. Green (My ex was into illegal street car racing and even had an uber-kewl nick he goes by in the circle! woohoo!! He owned a hot red Spitfire! Don't worry, he isn't a local and he never raced in Singapore! Wink )

Rhonda SG

Don't see Jay no up... apparently, he's quite a race car enthusiast! Wink

OK, the following quotes from this website :

Jay appears on-screen for the first time in ?Initial D?

Jay is a standard car lover. Usually, he loves to drive his Jaguar sports car in place of walking.

Jay, who usually likes to drive his sports car, should be familiar with the car-racing shots when filming.

Jay is a car lover himself. Usually he likes to drive his Jaguar sports car in place of walking. Whenever there are new cars on the market, he?d go to the dealer to test-drive the new cars. Since Jay?s driving skills are superb, the Taiwan paparazzi rarely can follow him. Surely, he will not be unfamiliar with the manga character of Takumi Fujiwara. Starring in ?Initial D? this time, Jay will certainly satisfy the craving for car-racing.

They've done Initial D justice by roping a car lover to play the role of Fujiwara Takumi! It's going to be Jay's debut starring role in a movie too! Mr. Green

Go Jay! Mr. Green

Watch the trailer on
'The Making of...'!

Rhonda SG

Most likely the stuntsmen will be doing the stunts, I think.

ditzy SG

You want to know who do the driving stunts?

www.drifting.com

Laughing

the Bear SG

well, i wonder...

how much more can they milk out of a "plot" about a bunch of people doing illegal street racing? and how many movies have been made out of something like this?

how different would it be?

anyhooo.. the "soundtrack" is the type of "music" i hate Laughing

could be one of the most grating movies ever... i'm thinking Razz

Rhonda SG

That site doesn't explain what 'drifting' means. I had to find out more here.

"Hi drifting is an interesting motorsport it involves controling a car while it is going sideway whether it through a corner or in a straight line the cars set up for drifting have a completly different suspension setup compared to normal or grip racing as it is called. In grip racing you are trying to get the car to stick to the road at the highest speed . Drift racing as all about style and control the better you are the faster you go and the longer you can drift. Time and speed don't play a part really it the skill of the driver, his level of control."

bismarck SG

u dont have to put down what others like

ditzy SG

He's not street racing, he's delivering tofu to the hotel up in the mountains, like his dad tells him to. Laughing

Rhonda SG

Actually, when it comes to music, I believe that every genre has its apt moments. I might not be a huge fan of Rap, but I feel that Rap has its place in certain situations, certain moments, and all. Difference types of music complements different moods and scenarios and gets people 'in the right mood'. For that very reason, I've discovered that I don't truly hate any genre of music.

Every dog has its day... and each piece of music has its moment.

the Bear SG

i am putting down my views...

and if you feel insecure enough to think it's a personal attack... sheesh! Laughing

the fact is this: i don't have to like what you like... you don't have to like what i like...

if you don't like something that everyone likes, you just dissed the world??

and you are not the centre of the universe.. don't be a supermassive blackhole?

bismarck SG

look who;s talking abt taking it to a personal level.
i didnt say it for my own sake. nobody is putting down the things u like.
u just making nothing but yr own assumptions.

ceecookie SG

then i think we should pay $100 to Jiayong to make him drive his AE86 at the day of the release of the movie…..

the Bear SG

dude.. you KNOW what i mean Wink
