thanks for the advice..i will try to do that..hope i can do it ..
so from 5pm to 8 pm i shd concentrate more in town area right ? then after 8 pm its anything to anywhere right ?

from 5 pm i zoom off to office area like you guys mention, and see where they gg, then go back to town right ? to and fro town till abt 8pm after the peak hours charges are over ..
then i will adhoc, after 8 pm how u guys suggest i should ply? as i would be picking up the silvercab , so i shd be no on call service

SilverCab got on-call service , it's the walkie talkie type ... but forget it , most veteran super fast .

i started Comfort without any distraction of MDT .

Cos the old man ordered Comfort to dismantle the set .. no use to him .

So i started off as a taxi stand cabby . Strictly street hire only .

Mind you , i have to thank that old man , by taking out the MDT , it culitvate me to work hard on the road , not on the on-call .

First 6 months only , after that , my hirer installed that time the trial set of the 2nd Generation MDT . From there i became a on-call man .

my 2 day shift comfort hirers dont take call…. one just do hotel airport biz…. the other just do street job….

they have been doing that for donkey years liao…. cant change….haha

i have confirm with my hirer, and i starting this coming monday ..
abit worried here...dunno how things will turn out ....
any good advice for a newbie first day ? do u think i should just stay around the area i am familiar with , and get myself familairse with the car etc, rather then venture into town?

hows the pax activities in cbd? is it easy to get pax?
normally in CBD, where do you suggest we pick up from ?

is it 5 to 8pm got $3 plus 35% then after 8pm to 12 its $3 extra? just want to confirm..

after 12 mdnight, where normally can i pick up pax?

any advice is really appreicated

the kia magentis is 103 per day, no contract, got incentive , i am considering, but then, better get myself more familiarise after i started.
i also looking at the transcab Wish, i heard its a one year contract running on CNG .

first day familarise vehicle… take pax but dont rush for biz…haha

start reading HDB estate now in the street directory and major expressways exit… a bit per day…

good that your driving is steady…. go town lots of things to be careful e.g. which alley short cut, less jam, bus lane, taxi pick up rule, taxi stand cannot too long q otherwise summon, cut lane here and there, ERP knowledge, fastest expressway entrance, office building pick up spot (dun go out then come in during certain times)...haha

The other nightmare is geylang wkend nite…. pple anyhow cross, cars anyhow stop and cut, taxi suddenly stop, heavy traffic, u need to look out for pax and at same time traffic and pedestrian….

once u master taxi-ing in geylang sat nite and evening peak townon, other places are chicken feet liao… haha

yeah 5pm to 12 $3 CBD…. u know where is considered cbd right?

after 12am? mon to thurs only town and some regional nite spots

e.g. if at west, me go towards hol V. If east go towards joo chiat-katong-geylang. if north, spit once then lan lan go town… haha…

anyway not say town very good… also must q for pax….

Fri and Sat after 12am got more chance to pick up from ulu places like HDB estate…

remember this – after 12am every out of town connection is a BIG bonus.

My after 12am bonus category:

A – HDB to town e.g. yishun to clark quay
B – long HDB to HDB trip e.g. bedok to jurong east
c – short HDB to HDB trip but towards town e.g. Wood to AMK
D – short HDB to HDB trip away from town e.g. clementi to CCK
E – within same HDB trip

If one nite me get 1 A and 1 C, happy like bird liao… haha

first week or weeks, when u are say at a taxi stand in town, start thinking how to go 3 locations e.g. west clementi, north yishun, east tamp… to buy you some time to think first…. haha

Also ... the more u do not want to go to a certain place .... u more u will get one , trust me .

Say u not familiar with Sengkang , i won't be surprise , ur first pax , hop in and say : " Uncle , Sengkang ! "

So my advice , take whatever shit thrown at you , be ready for the war ahead ....

Fight like a warrior , have more self confidence , must have a lot of rest , and patience .

And always think and work like a piece of sponge , absorb whatever u can .

first day ... a must to on the radio , both leisure and also for traffic news ....

first day ... always keep left unless overtaking ...

first day ... must learn where's the fuel tank opening ...

first day , must know where the boot opening ...

first day ... must learn where's to switch on the night light ...

first day ... must learn where to switch on the hazard light ...

first day , learn to reset meter ... if comfort i know , the rest i dunno .

first day , learn to read fuel tank meter , full tank or not .

first day , learn where ur hirer put his street directory ...

first day , learn to know the vehicle better ... the brake especially ...

first day , cultivate a habit of resetting the mileage ... u'll know why later .

oh .. if u at Taka , or wisma , lucky plaza , go by Paragon side into CTE .

If u at centrepoint , park mall , plaza sing , go by Buyong Road into CTE

If u at china town or shenton side , use the one UP cross street ....

or tanjong pagar side , use outram road into CTE ...

Nicholl highway ? KNN at the end of Bras Basah is Nicholl Highway lor ....
