More ERP gantries, extended hours from Nov

last SG · 2007-08-23T17:06:11+00:00

got two words big big there, its called OUTER CORDON. cordon off an area = dont let pple go in = stupidity -_- i give up la.. LTA will never learn.. so muc...

Vigelic SG

lol? you must be kidding.. people complain the ERP is useless on the northbound CTE and the possible solution is to add more gantries and extend the coverage of ERP and charge even more?! WTH?!

why are they so stuck in their ERP only mindset?! ****!!

tanjun SG

I think now the only solution to sort of alleviate the CTE congestion is the long awaited KPE.

Sigh!! ERP prices increase again and two more gantries being put up in CTE.

ERP is good but when a problem such as congestion keeps recurring, they can't keep using or I think relying ERP to solve the problem. As quoted by a CNA analyst report mentioned in the earlier post, the increase of prices does not really help or alleviate the problem of congestion due to the few reasons.
I guess bus fare hike looks imminent. If I am not guessing wrongly, taxi fare too in the near future.

Instead of whining about the new "unpopular" policy, are there any viable solutions that we can feedback to the authorities?

I can't of any right now. lol. Laughing

ORIGAMIST SG

The thing is, I spent so much to buy a car, is this little charges going to deter me from driving, no ... but it is the way it is implemented, the timing and all .. instead of increaseing the ERP rate, is there no really other alternative or is LTA taking the easy way out ..... afterall, we are paying by the millions to these minister and this is what we have for return ??

Master -_- SG

woohooo....

Soon,i'm gonna top up my cashcard like nobody's business liao Laughing

Inzaghi SG

the root of the problem here is there's too many pple staying along the cte stretch area..pple die die need to use the rd anyway...n with the ideal target of 6.5mil population, things just going to get worst only..

u can increase erp to sky high, but pple will still use..pple will cut back on other expenditure instead...n no 1 thing pple will cut back..have less babies..

EarlNeo SG

U really think the point of ERP is to provide smooth traffic flow???? Charge sky high and yet it still dun work, so why carry on increasing the charge? Ever wonder what they do with the $$$$ they collected from ERP charges??? Just another source of income for MIW's pocket. Rolling Eyes

Can't they jus let the jam pile up for all it want, and build more specialise lane for bus and more MRT line? Imagine what if it take u 2hrs to reach town by car but only 20 min by public transport.... who is still going to drive?

Inzaghi SG

erp will improve the jam situation on the rd, u cant deny it..but will not solve it overall, cos other no erp rd will jam up..so its like pushing the problem to other place instead of solving it effe, ctively...as COE has drop to 15K+ from 30K+, erp will be a go way to improve their earnings, there's no doubt about it lar..

only if public tpt improve tremendously, den pple will consider giving up driving..

Coquitlam SG

Don't forget that you are under the family rule now.....so I guess those that cannot get out of here will have to just be slaves to the MIW......

I always can't help but be amazed at how they preach one thing but do another....Hmmmm...let's see....they asked Sillyporeans to spend more time with their families and bond...and also to spend more time with your partner so that Sillypore can have more babies....problem is, when they have increased the number of gantries and preventing you from going home early, how to have the energy to procreate.....Mark my words....there will be more lights in the offices and especially in the CBD as people will just defer getting home at a later time.....

So now after all the hoohaa of the so-called 'fantastic' National Day...they drop you a bombshell....increasing ERP and telling you...'get back to work and work for the great MIW cause'

Never fails to amaze me how the people here pay them fat salaries to increase the burden in people's lives....well.....good luck to Sillyporeans.....many of us are better off getting out of this little piece of dirty red rock

dragg SG

the only way to solve the traffic problem is to either widen the roads and/or reduce the number of cars on the road.

the purpose of ERPs is to generate revenue. its all about money, money and more money.

Inzaghi SG

ys..might be under the family rule..but hey, if u r not happy about it, u can always migrate!!..if u cant, den well too bad, cos u din make urself marketable enuff to be a FT of another country..so stop blaming the family ruling, blame urself from not able to get out....

if u listen to govt n follow wat they say, u must be an IDIOT!!!!..they say need more pple cos we're not having enuff babies..if we have 50K babies every yr, u think govt will stop giving out PR??..of cos not!!!!..the more the merrier they will say..so end up, ur kids will have to fight like hell to get a job..

mett SG

C'mon guys... You don't really think the people up there are that dumb right?

They obviously know way beforehand that increasing the ERP gantries and prices will never reduce traffic congestion. Even those who do get deterred in the slightest possible way would give in and rather adjust their expenses over time.

So who wins? 1. More $$ for them. 2. People would complain less as they would be seen as "doing" something to "address" the issue.

Who loses? People like us and the cheerleaders who might be thinking right now " eh? i voted for this ah....?"

boredtulan SG

me think more erp is the gahmen’s back-up plan when there is revenue shortfall from coe. now that coe unlikely to breach 20k, plan B kicks into action.

Coquitlam SG

That's why the best solution is to leave Sillypore for somewhere else.....like what me and many others before me have done........things will not be perfect elsewhere but at least we do not need to put up with this false facade of perfection and No.1s all the time.....and then there is the playing down of issues that are not so platable to MIW....funny it seems how everyone supports the rally speech resoundingly....then again...we all know who the media supports or have to support Smile

Vigelic SG

actually there are lots of solutions..

but they are all more expensive to implement than ERP. ERP just build gantry put a price and switch on can liao.

and btw KPE won't alleviate the problem completely. the bulk of the traffic northbound on CTE are all going towards AMK and woodlands. i would say less than 1/3 is going towards punggol sengkang etc.

so u remove this less than 1/3 traffic and dump it on the KPE, u still have the other 2/3 to jam up the CTE.

regradless, traffic flow is like water flow. a lot of the CTE exits are poorly designed. look at the CTE to PIE(Changi) exit.. every evening jam.. cause it's too windy and heavy vehicles move through too slowly and it's a single lane and plus they have to merge {fyi nobody bothers to merge. in the end cars side by side on a single lane. how stupid can LTA get} with southbound CTE traffic joining PIE(Changi) also at the end of the sliproad and then most of them end up on the left most lane of PIE(Changi) then even though got chevron markings all ignore and try to cut across to the right lane sometimes completely stop there zero kmh forcing everyone behind to stop - once that happens it's a chain reaction leading back to the CTE and forcing cars to stop and queue up to join the PIE(Changi)

this point already feedback to them one million times still nothing done. instead come out with more ERP. i tell u i bet they will ERP this sliproad one day.

aiya. LTA sucks. give them better feedback they give u standard reply that it can't be done. even simple things like putting up bollards or repainting certain sections also die die don't want to try -_-

think their thoughts stuck in 1985.

Inzaghi SG

well if other places offer u a better living, den just go ahead.dun believe in the stayer n quiter crap...smart pple dun even understand wat's tat...haha

well the pple invited are 99% their kakis mah..so no surprise on the reception...

btw, have u pple saw one scene whereby all pple are clapping, WP chief was actually floding his arms!!.. Laughing

They just want to earn more money. They don't care about anything. In this world, money is first priority. Win-Win solution for them. Earn money from all type of transportation. Drive your own transport, pay this and that (oil, ERP, COE, etc) and bear traffic jam in peak hour. Public transport keep on increase fare hike, so crowded, break down often and wait so long some more. Taxi surcharges (including ERP charges) and fare hike, can't hail a cab at certain time, Alway on calls, etc. Left with few options.

Now only option is bicycle and walking . Get free ride from friends. Don't go out more often (free of charge).

Clever economists-cum-politicians who understand that the demand for these roads is Price Inelastic.

got ERP also no use what. people still need to get home, fast. to spend time with family what. Very Happy

use alternative routes. soon, alternative routes also jam. put ERP gantry. den got alternative² routes. den alternative² routes also jam. put ERP gantry.

i can take the train/bus if the govt wants to push ppl to use it. but saw phaik hwa is a single woman. she doesnt understand. i wouldnt want, in future, my pregnant wife to squeeze into trains. my small little children to be cooped up around adults squeezing into them making them claustrophobic.

i'm only 19 and i'm so forward thinking. Laughing

cloud210 SG

sigh.. pay themselves million dollar salaries yet everything they do to address problems is just by increasing this and that.

Vigelic SG

lol.. u apply to work in LTA la =P
