You know who goes to Australia for a tertiary education? Yes, the rejects who could not get a place in the universities of Singapore, England and United States for a want of merit and qualifications. Plus, we're talking about a "human resource" degree no less -- the equivalent of the useless degrees in Singapore (business, commerce, management and the like) and the lowest common denominator of all degree courses.

I'd be thoroughly ashamed to tell people that I'm a "human resource" graduate from Australia.

many overseas grads see the world beyond the paper cert...

im not so sure about local grads...

chrisbenoit SG

lol. to rm.ur ashamed cos ur a singaporean grad from a oversea sch.i am ashamed of sg school too.i bet not students tend to feel that way, metropolitan too.in a way or so.ur just grumbling u couldn't get a good job or a good study because of society factor.carry on blaming and stop doing anything to improve it.n u rox

I have a good job. The pay is good. Lots of free time. Who says O levels cannot get a good job? Although it is only until April/May next year. Even security guards cant reach my daily pay. More than $70 a day. Lots of free time and food on evenings. I must admit I am rather lucky though.

skythewood SG

security guards?

so i guess security guards make less than $70 per day.

chrisbenoit SG

Security guards make around $50 a day, fool. And they work long hours, I believe. 12 hours?

why you call me fool?

$70 per day big fuck can go around scold people ah.

fudgester SG

Hey, hey, hey.

Cool down, people.

chrisbenoit SG

More than $70, yes big fuck can go around scold people liao. Considering that I am only oooooooooooooo level.

But of course I thinking of upgrading myself.

Chris:

Congrats on your achievement, but.... maybe you'd like to tone down your rhetoric too?

caleb_chiang SG

Then what's there to whine about?

Fryderyk HPH SG

Come on lah, our gahmen already look down on us, give us what bonus lah... etc... And yet they can splurge money buy "solvent" investment products... You think gahmen don't despise us ah...

chrisbenoit SG

Whine? Why the fuck was this moved here in the first place? The topic is not how much you are earning. You can earn $10,000 a month but never complete secondary school, some people will still look down on you.

And its not really a achievement, I was just lucky.

Mr Sky, cool down. I don't think TS means that.

Fantagf SG

One should not base on education to decide the treatment to people. There are both nice educated and uneducated people. In fact, some educated people i meet have real bad attitude to look down on the lesser or uneducated people.

In the US, u got employed for your experience before, later you got employed for your paper qualification and now you get employed for your experiences and qualification

who will look down on Lee Ka Shing? - he didnt finish his schooling

The point is not so much on qualifications but your methodical thinking and your attitude - by scolding others who disagree with you only show your level of literacy

chrisbenoit SG

you suck, so stfu.

gd4u SG

Reading this at a glance, it means that some ppl will then also look down on ppl with NITEC, O lvls n etc ???

However, my experiences with such ppl tells me that, some of these ppl can behave, think and act better than who ever who looks down on them ...

lianamaster SG

Good attitude is the key...

Creditation is secondary.... If you lack the skills, it can be taught thru various courses...

But if your passion and attitude isn't there... then it will be hard to cultivate and achieve those goals you have ever wanted....

deathmaster SG

go upgrade urself lah.

there are so many courses out there for you to upgrade urself.

academic wise or vocational-wise.

Academic:

there are so many offerings for A levels, Diplomas and degrees in the newspaper.

Vocational:

you can go take up specialise courses such as WSQ security guard course, LCC accounting course, real estate course etc.

it is pointless to just sit down and whine.

eventually, one day, when degrees and diplomas become the norm, ur O lvel cert will become the psle cert of today: redundant.
