mandarin is not to replace dialects
itself is a dialect, the beijing dialect, which become the widely
accepted "chinese" all over the world
language shd never be for replacing other languages, whether
official or colloquial
it's called mother tongue for a good reason
there is a different between beijing mandarin and standard
mandarin. fyi
