That is done prior to blood donation, where they screen for your blood group.. but nowadays, we have other methods such as pin-prick... though I prefer the older method lar..

Yeah... there is actually an easier method... but you can only learn this from the experienced nurses (sisters - one rank lower than the matron)... somehow... they dun really teach unless you ask them personally... lucky my friends and I approached them last time... otherwise... i might be inflicting pain when I insert the needle blindly Laughing

Partly the doctor's fault when he forget to remove the torniquet before he removes the needle... the veins get thrombosed (I dunno the layman term for this, but I think it's injury by clotting) and appear as blue black...

The other cause is failed attempt when they poke several times but bubbles (thegap of the veins created by the needle becomes clotted liau) seem to come out, that is also another cause of thrombosed veins...

The patient's fault is that they don't compress the wound appropriately...

LA ar? It's only given for stitching up wounds... coz the blood withdrawal procedure is a short one, giving too much LA may not be good for the patient as well... as it can cause improper blood vessel dilation or constriction (depending on the content of the LA, the ones lignocaine can cause constriction, so blood withdrawal becomes tougher)...

LA - Local Anaesthesia...

She very paranoid sia, haven't touch her scream until whole ward staff and patients looking at me. And I say her voicebox sure can last her a long time. Screaming throughout the blood withdrawing session.......

Ask me also don't want to draw her blood. My eardrums would have burst during the session...... Confused
