A good 22" Samsung or LG LCD monitor would cost you around $450 - $600. I would suggest cutting down on the PSU budget to spend on a good screen instead. Try going for a PSU manufactured by FSP, Enhance, SeaSonic or SilverStone in the range of $160 - $240.

I see quite a few recommending vista to TS.

Just an advice to TS,

DON'T GET VISTA, YOU WILL REGRET IT.

Why XP?
1) Better compatibility with (Old or New) softwares/games.
2) Better performances.
3) No irritating 'Are you sure you want to continue' dialog everytime you run every single program.
4) Better user-friendlyness.
5) Vista operating system sucks to the core.
6) The perception of vista is that the operating system really does suck.

Yes, I know Vista service pack 1 is releasing soon and after that it might improve. So is XP, it going to release service pack 3 soon. Tests* have shown that the service pack 1 improvement to vista is not overwhelming.

Vista's performance with the service pack increased less than 2 percent compared to performance without SP1--much lower than XP's SP3 improvement of 10 percent.

A year after its launch, only 13 percent of businesses have adopted Vista, according to a survey of IT professionals.

One real life scenario - My friend, who is using vista (despite me telling him not to get it), having alot of problem running programs on his computer (he bought his desktop last year). He learnt his lesson and is planning to get his laptop to run XP when he buy one this year for poly.

Majority of the companies and consumers haven't yet moved to vista, why should you? Laughing

*Tests are based on beta version, but i doubt there will be any big improvement on the final version.

But many games and software are not compatible with Macs wor. I think mainly graphic designers and office users would go for them. And of course, for those who want to make heads turn when surfing the net at a public cafe as well.

and i intent to buy a 20" TV to use as monitor, cheaper then wadt the shop is selling

i guess you had all the answer ... i feel that 1000 watt power supply would be for server that need to drive many harddisk drive like a raid system ... other then that for a home pc you really don't need that kind of power with just a single harddisk in your computer casing ...

Do you think a $480 mobo would be entry level then?

For the GFX card, it depends on which revision of GTS you are comparing with. The G92 one for the 8800GTS 512MB model performs better than the 8800GT 512MB card.

I'm not sure if the Antec casing is overpriced or something, but if you look around 5 or 6 shops and they are selling around that price, then you shouldn't be pretty far from the "correct" price. Anyway, if you see that another shop was selling for $205, why not use that to bargain with your retailer you are dealing with for a lower price?

actually buying, but heard about the 9800 is faster than the 8800 ultra, then wait lor, since 8000 series cannot support directX 10.1, and the new one can support DX 10.1 and oepnGL3.0, i wait...
