USB printer detection woes

The model of the printer is 1-2 revision behind.
Physically, it's new. But because there's this problem, I sent it for servicing, and now it's back with the problem after servicing.

Frustrating.

I don't know if this way would work, it can be frustrating. Shut down your computer and off the power supplies. Leave it there for about 30 minutes or so. Plug in the USB cable for the printer. On your power supply and start up the PC.

See if it helps.

Update
After searching the internet, it seems that people tried shutting down the computer and pulling out the plug to release the static.

It worked for me at the detection stage. Meaning, in the Printers and Faxes window, it showed that s9000 is ready.

But when I tried to print, it says that printer is not responding.
I pull out the usb cable and replug and got the error message again.

oh..so thats why ur giving ur ancient printer away..

USB printer is a hassle to install..esp when during the part where they ask u to connect the usb cable..the com hanged on me on that part and it took me the whole night + several system restore to finally manage to complete the installation...

It's not those problems. It's the "one of the usb devices is malfunctioning" problem when I insert the usb cable.

What I meant was before you plug out and plug in again. When you plug in, you said it was ready, but you start to print, it wasn't responding.

I think the connection was lost the moment after it recognise connection.

pardon me asking u got connect the 3-piin plug power cable or not? er...forget it most probably you do. what about a proper ejecting of USB connected devices? you do that? i also do with my external hdd, thumbdrives, mp3 players and external card readers...click that green arrow on the bottom right of your windows task bar and if the connected item name appears click on it to properly disconnect the device before removing the USB cable or powering off the printer

Does your USB hubs supply the printer with enough power? troublemaker gave a link on making sure that enough power is supplied. Try doing that and see if it helps.

according the the above picture, it seems that there are some problem with:
1) printer's usb port
2) comp's usb port (the one which you connect to printer)
3) the comp's whole usb section (if you have other connected devices working fine, then it's ok)

as mentioned that you've installed the printer driver "only by chance", there could be a possibilty that the printer's driver is not installed properly (but i still suspect the fault lies with the usb ports as you only managed to install the drivers "by chance")

since you've tried alot of methods, why not try your usb ports one by one now and see if the error message appears when the specific usb port is used. if you're very sure that your usb ports are working, try it on other systems. if the same error message appears on other systems, then bring it bac to canon again.

btw, you using so much ram? 2GB? Very Happy

Its difficult to have any idea how Parka connects his printer to the computer but if he hasn't he can also try connecting the USB cable to the USB ports at the rear of the computer - the ones soldered directly to the computer's motherboard instead of the ones connected by internal cables and wired to the front of the computer case.
