Files got VIRUS but not healed

couldn't do it... cannot find update java....

only got start->control panel->IBM Java Plug-in 1-4-1

in the computer... and it doesn't have an update tab...

You are right, only one file is quarantined. However, the rest are not on the loose. It means that the files have either been deleted or healed.

Show your system hidden files.

My Computer, Tools, Folder Options. Select View tab. Under Hidden files and folders, select Show hidden files and folders. Click OK.

Open My Computer again. Find the files that are infected with viruses and delete it away.

i agree on this one. if u can't remove it by whatever means, don't wanna reformat it, don't wanna waste money ask for professional help. i suggest u just leave it there, as long as your computer can still be use.

you said the files should be deleted or healed... but when i scan, it still show 3 viruses found, so it means they are still there?

Find those files manually and delete. By right, files that are quarantined or cannot be deleted will be there.

Then scan again.

Most Java related viruses are harmless as long as they are quarantined. They don't do much harm, antivirus can't delete them because they are in zip folders.

when i scan, it says 3 viruses found.

so shd be there but i can't find them manually... my method is correct right? ie. start and search?

depends on what virus it is. if u can still use your computer for whatever things u do, like surf webs, play games etc etc. just leave the virus there loh.

if already infested, don't think even the technician can do anything other than to reformat it.

there is only 1 virus in the virus vault, and 3 others not in the vault (because the scanning says 3 viruses found), so are they not quarantined? will they cause harm?
