TehJarVu SG we are not sure..... anybody knows any computer technician who charge reasonably who can come onsite? Normally how they charge?
ditzy SG They charge per hour, and still add in transport charge. They take their own sweet time, say can't do it here, have to take back, charge you again for ta pow, and come back 2 days later, same transport and per hour charge.
ndmmxiaomayi SG All these viruses are related to Java. Update all your Java applications. Go to Control Panel, Java. Select the Update tab. Click on Update Now. For AVG, the quarantined area is called a Virus Vault. If there are files that can't be deleted, it will be stored there. Just open your Virus Vault and click on Delete if you want to delete those files.
TehJarVu SG in the control panel there's only a IBM Java Plug-in 1-4-1 option... and there's no update tap in it....... how? in the virus vault, there is one item. but when she scanned the system, it shows "virus found". does the "virus found" means those in the virus vault? is it safe to leave it like that without deleting anything? because I'm afraid I might crash her system...
newmanmback SG is it a system file? if its just some data files that you have back ups for and can do without just quarantine or delete
TehJarVu SG the virus vault says: File name = sploit[1].anr File path = c:\Documents and Settings\IBM\Local Settings\Temporary Int.... Source = backup copy so how?
ditzy SG Safe to delete lar, just delete the damn thing! I'm still laughing at the way you use the word "heal" to describe files.
TehJarVu SG heal is the word AVG uses lah... and go where to delete the file/s? it doesn't work when we right click on it in the virus vault... it doesn't give a delete option... only a "what's this" pops up and explains some stuff to you.. and virus vault only shows 1 virus but the scanning shows 3 infected files... so does it mean that i copy down the paths?? and then go where and delete?
newmanmback SG got something here but procedures are similar to what some forumers here have posted...safe mode, disable system restore, deleting all files in temporary internet folders...emptying recycle bin etc http://www.bullguard.com/forum/10/Massive-spread-of-viruseshelpp_9357.html
ditzy SG The thing about antivirus software is they usually don't let you delete the file coz they want to play super safe, so you don't make stupid decisions although you are right, but they want to make sure they are righter than you are. If you know the exact location, go there and delete it. If need be, shut off your AV temporarily, so it doesn't keep squawking.
TehJarVu SG i went to start->search and looked for the exact file... but didn't find it although i have the complete path.... give up... can i just leave things as it is? can u tell me if the virus is already quarantined safely? are the 3 files that are infected already quarantined? ie. quarantine 1 virus (as shown in the virus vault) means all the files are already quarantined... correct or not?
ditzy SG Just leave it lar, your comp is not going to die. As long as your comp doesn't have what launch codes for a north korean icbm, its not that important.
StarPuppy SG if its in the temporary internet files...go to internet options and clear your temporary internet folder
TehJarVu SG when i run scanning, it shows 3 viruses found. and in the virus vault, there is 1 item showed, ie. 1 virus. Does it mean that 1 virus is quarantined (in the virus vault), while 3 other viruses are still on the loose?
