I also have an uncle, Singaporean but driving Malaysian car, got
warned 2x, before he stopped doing so.
I think the logic is simple.
Foreigners can drive local cars, eg rental, etc.
But locals cannot drive foreign cars.
If can, Singaporeans will exploit that loophole and will not only
drive Malaysian cars, but also Indonesian registered
cars.
