managing dragonboat with studies

dragonboaters SG

training schedule goes like this for NYP. I have no idea about the others

Tuesday 6pm-10pm [Weights training for strength inclusive of running]

Wednesday-Rowing for 2 hours or so

Thursday 6pm-10pm [Weights training for endurance inclusive of running]

Saturday Rowing 3hours

Sunday Rowing 3hours

Anyway, training is already pushing myself to the limits.

yes. from what i've seen, dragon boaters have a penchant for wearing flip flops, and no they're not self centred, they share protein shakes.

5 days training is u all de normal training not until competition approach than 5 days training?Nyp got use protein shakes? My bro fren said nvr use?

dear dragonboater

a sincere advice to you.. i have frens who join dragonboat and left due to it tight schedule competing this and that

their studies is very average .

wearing mooks and NUM is quite common among dragonboater as they wont want to stuff a big bag ard singapore

if you really want to be successful in your studies in poly in ngee ann poly and in dragonboat ..i guess the answer is ...

virtually impossible

my fren quit after 2nd year as he got his COM

Certificate of Merit in Poly is a big heavy medal

As a graduates of Ngee Ann Poly , i have nothing against dragonboat which is perfectly a good cca to learn about teamwork and working as a team

but u need the time in life to learnt beyond rowing a boat.

Ngee Ann poly give me the strength to work in a challenging outside world..

any cca will do ... just be honest to yourself

when u see ur grades not well.. think of it..its ur parents CPF u use .. u need to pay it back with your money

either u can be muscular and sluggish like my gym personal trainer fren

or u are brainy and earn lots of $$$ :)

my 5 cents of advise

regards

Collin

join DB when u got really passion for it

training for it last time is tues(np), thurs(np) and sat(kallang)

training tough, lazy to type out everything

i oso quit halfway if not my studies will die, lucky can go thru the 3yrs haha.

if u got commitment, u can get good grades

lianamaster SG

I joined DB before but also quitted due to clashes in my timetable and I feel I couldn't cope well. The commitment is 7 days a week and I find it not suitable for me.

At the end of the day, I tell myself that if I want to be look good, be fit & healthy, there's other methods to achieve the figure that you want, no need to go thru DB one...

Our country is meritocratic and having good degrees at the end of the day will lead you farther than just having a good figure.

Perhaps, I might consider re-joining db after pursuing my studies....haha

Just my 2 cents' worth....

Well, be mentally prepared for a tough one. Must able to do at least 100 pushups and good stamina for running. Proper time management. =) However, sometimes if you want to join dragonboat you have to be rich because during holidays train about 5 times a week so you cannot work. Some left because need to work and can't really commit, while some is studies. Overall, see how what you want. If you really want you definately can do it. =)
