Beckham deserve it, Giggs deserve it, Scholes Deserve it

Master -_- SG

Ryan's a legend..People emulate to be like him..He doesnt hog the limelight..loyal to his country..qualified to play for England but prefers to play for Wales since that's his birthplace..Captained for both club and country..donated a few million pounds to fund the Millenium stadium..

WHy is he not knighted?

how many trophies does he have?

zocoss SG

Err... what has he done for England or UK or UNICEF?

dragg SG

alan shearer should be knighted. all the liverpool players in the 80s should be knighted.

iceFatboy SG

if thats the case then scholes also must knighted?

I think Giggs played the most for United and won the most League title.

starhawk SG

1st reason is that not much british players or any players around the world played for a club for such long period of time.

2nd is his achievements while playing for the club = awesome....

3rd he is royal to clubs and always avoiding limelight/bad press

he really deserve the title....

NellyJT SG

I like starhawk's reply... And I agree very much...

What else must he do to achieve his knighthood???

He has scored in every season for the past 17 seasons. He's the most decorated English Premiership player. He has the most appearances at Utd. He won Goal of the Season in 1999 against Arsenal. He's less controversial on / off the pitch. I think that's very much deserving. And I'm sure a lot of rival fans would say that even though they hate Utd, it is very difficult to hate someone like Ryan Giggs who doesn't cheat nor dive...

where u heard that?

i think those englishman know that gerrard is a hypo unlike giggs/scholes/beckham who are true man.

zocoss SG

Gerrard have indeed been honour for his service to sports but its like the one Giggs got too or Mark Hughes... The rank doesn't allow him to be address as "Sir" though...

I guess Giggs will get his after he retire from playing... Cos I don't think there is any still actively playing players being given the title of "Sir" yet...

Beckham came rather close for consideration when then PM Tony Blair recommended him for the honour having played a part in London winning the right to host the Olympic Games in 2012. But many consider him still too young for such an honour... Therefore I guess he has to wait a little longer...

There are only six football knights at present. And they are Tom Finney, Bobby Charlton, Geoff Hurst, Alex Ferguson and Trevor Brooking as well as Bobby Robson in 2002... I guess they will have to be 40 and above before they can be consider for knighthood.

Master -_- SG

Gerrard has only MBE and that's like Singapore's PBM..SAF is not knighted under the orders of chivalry but under Knights Bachelor..meaning though he is "Sir", he doesn't have the suffix (Knight of the British Empire)..and I'm sure Ryan Giggs will be knighted as a Knight Bachelor...sportsmen of other sports like rugby, canoeing, sailing, cycling (like Chris Hoy who was knighted for winning the Olympic gold medal ) are easily given knighthoods and MBEs...

Arise, Sir Ryan Giggs

iceFatboy SG

so winning the most league titles justify the award?

nope, but by many other factors, but that will be one telling factor..

iceFatboy SG

alan shearer should be knighted. all the liverpool players in the 80s should be knighted.

alan shearer? the mouse who doesn't dare to take the Newcastle job?

or because he elbowed the most people on his way to scoring the most penalties??

well, how many Liverpool players in the 80s have more championship medals than Giggs?

no no, he was not too young, Posh decided he will 'aged" too much so ask the British empire to hold..
