yes, but in the 1st place, how will anyone hack your PayPal
account?!
as long as you don't use PayPal on others' computers (office,
internet cafes etc.), and as long as you make sure your PC is
clean, no way your account can be hacked.
also, it's better to tie the account to a debit card and not
credit card.
with debit card, the only limit is the $ in your bank account.
if you only have $3000, then at most $3000 gone.
with credit card, the hacker (if any) can spend US$6 million and
you'll be paying for him.
if he spends $50 million, good luck.
also, i remember that when you apply your debit card, you can
specify on the form how much money you want to limit spending on
the card each transaction.
paypal overall is very safe, don't worry.
the number of people using paypal is more than the current
population in singapore.
as for account "freezing" and other suspicious transactions and
the "form printing" crap mentioned by above guys, it's all crap and
doesn't happen.
nobody wants and will freeze your account unless you're sending
money to some obviously suspicious place in the middle east and the
company is Al-Qaeda and the recipient is Osama Bin Laden. now, who
will do that??!!
the verification is for security and purposes only.
like if you sell stuff and people see you're a PayPal Verified
Member, of course it assures them. And after getting verified
status (which is easy as hell), you can do any number of
transactions per day.
for your case, since you wanna make only 1 purchase, then no
need for verification.
