Disman SG About our SG GALS and WHITE GALSJune 16, 2011 at 2:06 am Big Apple Boy(Quote) as i have dated both singaporean women and white american women it is fair for me to comment. i notice that singaporean women are more materialistic on the whole and no doubt there’s this hegemony that a lot of chinese singaporean ladies demonstrate when they have a white guy on their arm. for me living in singapore for the past 5 years and completely immersing myself in the culture of this city that i have come to call home, i have become all too familiar with the whole white-guy-chinese-girl topic. oddly enough i have actually gone through several discussions with my singaporean friends on the topic of sarong party girl and will try my best to summarize the main crux of it from the point of view of a white american living extensively in singapore. firstly, a lot of singaporean ladies argue that their preference in white men stem from the fact that most white men are more geocentric with a worldly view to certain subject matters which makes interesting conversation. i find this point of view difficult to comprehend as i have dated many highly educated singaporean ladies who are unable to relate to these so-called worldly topics of conversation which has left me stifling my yawns all too often at dinner dates. secondly, some of my female singaporean friends have expressed unhappiness that their male counterparts do not know how a real lady would like to be treated and it seems that only white guys know what buttons need to be pushed. finally, there is this impression that the color of a guy’s skin is a connotation to his level of wealth, success and aptitude (yes i have some very honest female singaporean friends!).
