Apparently, the MPS employs electronics to deal with most of these problems. I'm not sure how well it works though as I have never driven one. They should have made it AWD though.

But even then... 190kw and 380Nm in a 1400kg car sounds like a lot of fun.

also mentioned b4... with electronics... to control the understeer... it reduces the torque and power to the wheels.. so what's the use of having so much power and torque...

if they made it AWD.. who will buy the mz6mps???

u juz look at high paper figures and say its fun.. a relatively immature judgement... the essence of a sports car is in its handling... whats with all the power if u cant harness it well...

As long as it goes fast down the quarter mile I'll be content Smile . As a daily driver the MPS is ok. No one really drives it as a sport car all the time. And at $40,000 it is also a performance bargain. A BMW 130i would be better but it costs double the price.

It can still do the 1/4mile in 14.3 seconds. Nothing else in this price range is as fast in a straight line. The WRX may challenge it, but only because it has AWD and can launch from 6000rpm (at risk of the clutch though Laughing ).

eh , why not accord euro ? as in if it is a comparison of 2.0 liter ,me think that civic of the latest version is a good bargain ,no offense but don’t really think that mazda 3 would be nice .. me personally think that

The honda accord euro is around 10 thousand more than the civic/3. But it's a nice car and faster too Smile .

must it be the wrx again... there are a lot of better cars out there.. and the price range is so cos the demand is poor for this car and i think my reasons justifies it...

there are many cars in the same range with better drivability than this... and saying that the a defination of a good car is how fast it does what distance is clearly a sign of immaturity.... throw in ur "worshiping" of the wrx and i can tell u are juz a boy racer wannabe.... no offence though.. but there is a whole wide world out there beyond the wrx and some cars with huge engines and a lousy drivetrain

anyway there is a very wide and large range of cars out in the market , me believe that in oz sure will have alot if i didn't guess it wrongly la , so maybe one should consider other brands including western /European brand as well?

but if it is an intention of attracting gals watching, hehe then maybe you might have to "burn" your pocket abit . pretty cars with good performance might not be cheap sometimes. Very Happy hehehe

- Very good FC
- New design
- performance, below expectations

Mazda 3 SP
- Relatively good FC. Honda wins. mazda is heavier by abit
- design.. same as the old one.. just minor changes..
- performance is good, more than expected

Handling is questionable for the civic.. 2 civics has already turn turtled in singapore. furthermore, ive already test driven the 1.8 and 2.0..

1.8/2.0 civic did not have the high speed stability that the mazda 3 gave me..

tested both cars on the NS highway at 180km/h.. mazda 3 felt MUCH MORE safer and comfortable..

regards to FWD cars having too much power?

don understand why MPS3 sucks cuz it has too much power on FWD..

wat bout civics? they get 9 secs down the 1/4 and are FWD too..

so i guess the Golf GTI wld sucks too?

im a neutral here and love both makes.. but just don see why some had to talk down mazda3 like it belongs to the scrapyard..

Boy racer wannabe??? I've been driving since I was 16, and have had experience drag racing at the motorplex here in Perth... I would hardly say that I am immature/inexperienced in this respect. I drive a 4 Litre 6cyl with over 200kw and more than 400Nm of torque and the drivability is awesome - I don't see how I could be a boy racer...

no i am not biased against mazda.. and i am no fan of honda either... i appreciate the mx5 and i am quite a fan of the FD3S.... when the mz3 first came out.. i was in awe with its looks... but what i am trying to tell TS is that hey... there is a newer model in the marekt in the form of civic and its better spec-ed

regarding civic.. which generation are u talking about... civics are fast cos their bodies are light.. u dun hear stock civics exceeding 200bhp do u ???

and golf gti... their engine output is nicely mated to their transmission and drivetrain... suitable for fwd.. for mz3 case.. its overkill...

have u tried taking any of ur drag cars to the circuit... wld it have clocked a good time??

drag racing is not all there is... it doesnt take too much skills to acc in a straight line... most good sports cars are not about brute force... most are sweet handlers...

I'm pretty sure that the MPS is still faster than all it's hot hatch rivals around a circuit and down the quarter mile. What experience have you had? It's easy to read a motoring magazine... and come to conclusions without actually experiencing it for yourself. Have you ever driven an MPS around a circuit or raced down the quarter mile?

You should have read March's edition Autocar Asean..they have the article on the Mega hot hatch test..they rated the Mazda 3 MPS very badly..they said it's only good in a straight run, but handling sucks when compared to other hot hatches there like the Audi S3, VW Golf GTi, Ford Focus and stuff like that..lol..

But back to the topic here, I would think Mazda 3 and Honda Civic are very equally matched..but one more thing to consider here and that's interior space..the Civic definitely has more interior space than the 3..so think about that.. Laughing
