Those still studying in VITB/STI, Secondary 3,4 and in Colleges or Pre-U (public or private) or Polytechnics and in Universities, during their school holidays or after school, they work part-time at fast food chain restaurants like at McDonalds, KFCs, Burger King etcs to earn money to support themselves and family too. They were independent and most of them too start full time work before the age of 20 in the various industries in Singapore.

We could purchase things in Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei using Malaysia Ringgit or Brunei Ringgit or Singapore Dollar because the currencies value were all the same until in the middle of 80s. Singapore stopped using Malaysia Ringgit to buy things in Singapore except Brunei currency. The value of Singapore currency exchange rate increased against Malaysia Ringgit bit by bit from few cents became higher and higher to this day. Singapore today still accepts Brunei currency to be used to purchase goods here because still same value.

The SAF Boy’s School closed on 18th March 1984. Shouldn’t have closed it because it would actually help those young male Singaporeans to pursue his military career and excel in his civilian life later on.

A march down memory lane

You wear the Army uniform, carry a rifle and learn military tactics and concepts daily, but this is not your Co-curricular Activity (CCA). This might have been a nightmare for most teens, but this bunch of boys (now men, of course) volunteered for such a life back in 1977 at the SAF Boys’ School (SAFBS).
