I have heard from foreigners whom I have met here, like those
from Scandinavian countries, they prefer to work half a year, and
be unemployed for the other half of the year. This is due to the
high income tax rate and unemployment benefits. They say
sometimes it is not worth working there.
Here those who earn below $20,000 pa don't pay income tax at
all. You maybe paid more in angmo countries by comparison, but
don't they deduct the tax from you salaries.?
We have medical tourists who come here for treatment because
they find it cheaper even if they have to pay the non-Singaporean
rate than in their own country.
COE and ERP is out of the question of taxes, as they are as they
are not applied equally to all. If you are a vehicle owner, or
aspiring to be an owner you can choose. While with taxes there is
no choice.
There is no notable welfare scheme here like that of
Australia, or UK, for the simple reason to prevent abuse. Even at
present there is some abuse here, with the CPF medical scheme. Some
doctors are admitting people to hospitals just so that they can
draw on their Medisave to pay for the treatment.
Government after government in the west are going bankrupt. Why?
They spend more than they tax. I don't think its their
military spending that cause them to go broke. Welfare is
one of the bleeding points.
Sweden has a GDP per capita of US$49,000 while Singapore has a
GDP per capita of US$43,000.
If Swedish citizens can afford 6 months of
employment/unemployment. Why can't Singapore? It's probably due to
the excessive taxes imposed by the PAP regime.
Life is NOT only about work, it's sad to work all your life
amassed wealth and realized that all your life is spent on work
only. 
Singapore don't call it salary tax, they call it CPF, it's
different name but same nature.
Medical tourist from western countries find it cheap to seek
treatment here, is the same as Singaporean medical tourist seeking
treatment in India and China.
And you think income taxes and property tax are applied equally
to all?
Different income levels different levels of tax rates.
Abuse of medical services? You mean you would go in for a heart
bypass or chemotherapy if you are perfectly fine?
Governments in the west don't go bankrupt because of welfare,
it's more like comparative advantage. Why do you think China's
trade surplus ballooned? The west has always had a welfare system
in place all this while. Why did this bankruptcy come about only
after China's entry into global trade? You have been hoodwinked by
the PAP Ministers who wants you to believe that welfare is all bad.
But then again they didn't say anything when a Health Ministers
paid a paltry sum for his operation. Welfare is only good when you
are at the receiving end, not when somebody else is receiving it,
seems to be the PAP motto.
