Lost cheques in quick cheque deposit box

Today I queued up at posb bank counter to deposit my cross cheque and they told me that they no longer accept cross cheque at the counter. They only accept...

Secondary box is the box which the cheques are in?

So when the staff collect the metallic box how come they never take your cheque?

aremeis SG

Somehow, the cheque fell out of the metallic box inside (primary).....and as you can see how their boxes (secondary one) are built in an awkward position ......the staff in-charge needs to bend and peer inside before replacing the box with another. As it is quite cumbersome, most of the time they do not bother and just put in another box w/o checking the insides properly....so my cheques were not presented in time for clearance.

Did you accidentally slot it into the littering bin? The width and the size of that bin is similar to the quick cheque deposit leh..

aremeis SG

Also, there is this one time where one cheque was left inside the envelop and was not presented for clearing.

The bank did not even call to notify that there is 1 cheque short in the QCD. And it wasn't found till we checked the bank's balance and follow through with the bank that they found the "missing" cheque still inside the envelop.

yimkim SG

Confirm no. I always very careful when putting in cheque espically the cheque was my salary which was a few thousand dollars..

yimkim SG

Is it the same incident as the 1 which the bank apoligsed for the cheque which was left at the secondary box? Confused

airgrinder SG

Just inform the finance dept bank lost the cheque. Your company will have records the chq number that was issued to you. They just need to chk if the chq is presented.

airgrinder SG

By queing up at counter to deposit chq, you are wasting other people's time too.

Any chq you submit at the counter, although they give u a receipt, they'll still dump it into the Quick chq deposit box too.

And if its lost, you can go complain to the bank with the receipt, but there's nothing they can do. You still have to get your company to issue another chq.

airgrinder SG

They'll ignored u.

airgrinder SG

common lah.. not only POSB, but also the local and foreign banks..

yimkim SG

I never have this problem with other local and foreign banks

yimkim SG

How you know

yimkim SG

I have a feeling that airgrinder is a staff of posb/dbs so he/she is trying to defend the bank Evil or Very Mad Twisted Evil

We should ask freedom fighter to shoot him to death

airgrinder SG

My company had 16 chqs lost/disappeared in a month.

airgrinder SG

Let's say you're the staff at the counter. A customer came in and tells you he deposited a chq some days ago, but the amount was not credited into his account. What would you do?

They'll check with the clearing dept and the QCD. If still can't find the chq, even if you can produce the receipt, they can't deducted from your company's bank account and deposit the money into your account also mah.

Come on, people do make mistakes. I'm sure you do too. I do too. Give them a break man.

What bank is that.

I think your company never keep proper record lah.

yimkim SG

What receipt you talking about.

Last time when I deposit cheque at the counter they also never give any receipt lah. They just update the amount into your bankbook and your bankbook is the evidence.

yimkim SG
